I really like Yukon High school, OK sign out front that says the goal is for all students to graduate either enrolled, enlisted, or employed. Nice to recognize college isn’t the only legit path to success.

@JamesAFurey In OK much of this is kids who show up to Pre-K and K with minimal to no English, setting them up for being behind from day 1.

In a strong field of candidates, this is the biggest scandal in all of American education.

@SWStrawn54 @educator4ever36 I’m all for tests and data.My issue is the instructional time wasted taking endless practice tests and test taking strategy workbooks rather than teaching content. If you are teaching the standards,covering key content, tests shouldn’t be that worrisome.

@KeylimeOK @educator4ever36 Is it a problem that doctor’s have to pass an exam for their medical license? Lawyers must pass the bar? Nurses must pass the NCLEX? Psychologists have to pass a licensure exam….etc etc. Of course we don’t- it’s not insane to expect kids to pass a test that proves they can read.

It’s testing season in most American public schools. How many schools will now stop teaching any new content for the rest of the year? Parents - you should ask the teachers or Principals whether your child is simply going to school for compliance at this point.

My printer won't print a black and white document because my magenta is low. This is why I have rage issues.

@Sxxxljek @educator4ever36 Exactly-I don’t mind the tests-it’s the time spent on practicing tests and giving tests individually, in small groups, or make ups instead of instruction

@educator4ever36 Yes, they made us do practice ESOL exams 3 times last year - two days each time. BOY, MOY, EOY. That is 6 days. Then the real one is 2 days. 8 days of instruction for one exam. This year, they reduced it slightly after teacher pushback.

It’s testing season and you won’t be surprised to know the most vulnerable public school students miss the most days for testing. Consider an ESOL Special Education 5th or 8th grader - these students have to take so many tests every year and miss the most instructional days. Ask your test coordinator if you don’t believe me.

@DrOzCMS @SecKennedy Not filling out papers on clipboards sounds great-what isn’t great is one doctor misdiagnosing or calling you problematic, and then all other docs seeing and believing it without coming to their own conclusions. Makes a clean slate or independent second opinions impossible
