BREAKTHROUGH: Coca-Cola withdraws job advertisement after Solidarity intervenes Coca-Cola has withdrawn a controversial racial advertisement after Solidarity initiated legal action against the company. In the job advertisement for an internship aimed at unemployed young people, Coca-Cola stipulated that the candidate must be black. There is no moral justification for classifying unemployed young people according to race. There is also no obligation on companies to include racial requirements in advertisements. On the contrary, racially exclusive advertisements are unlawful. The inclusion of race in advertisements is a self-imposed practice by employers that must be stopped. Among other actions, Solidarity initiated a process against Coca-Cola at the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), of which the United States is a signatory. Part of this process involves placing the company on formal terms. Coca-Cola responded in writing, undertaking to withdraw the advertisements immediately and to begin an internal process to ensure that this does not happen again. In the meantime, Solidarity will continue engaging with Coca-Cola to ensure that racial exclusion does not arise again in future. Solidarity will also continue its campaign against racial stipulations in advertisements and South Africa’s broader race-based policies. Approximately 20 companies with exclusive racial requirements have been identified, and action is planned against them. These companies are not only acting immorally but are also in breach of various laws and international conventions. This also constitutes a violation of the terms of the settlement between Solidarity and the South African government, under the supervision of the International Labour Organization (ILO), which also forms part of a court order.

Decommissioning coal without sufficient dispatchable replacement will cause load-shedding. And no dispatchable capacity is being built currently in RSA. Batteries alone will not suffice. “This schedule would remove almost half of Eskom’s ageing coal fleet, without adequately replacing these assets with sufficient load-following technologies such as LNG, Coal, Nuclear, BESS or grid-forming inverters.”
Daily Investor@DailyInvestorSA

If Eskom decommissions its coal-fired plants according to schedule, South Africa will face an electricity shortfall in the next three to four years, with this crisis potentially being worse than in the past. dailyinvestor.com/energy/131900/…

Did you know? The Transformation Fund is not funded through government tax revenue. The fund pools contributions from companies already investing in transformation through Enterprise and Supplier Development under B-BBEE, including Enterprise Equity Investment Programmes (EEIP),

The French power system is the largest, by production, and the most stable in Europe. It’s dominated by base-load nuclear plants owned by EdF. EdF is owned 100% by the French gov. EdF also owns 50.1% of the transmission entity, RTE. The French consider EdF the national energy champion that seeks global opportunities for France. EdF is also growing its portfolio in South Africa’s IPPs But in RSA the ‘energy experts’ are campaigning for the total destruction of Eskom to create market vacuum for new IPPs.

The 3 largest power systems in the world: 1) China( ~4000GW)- mostly coal for global industrial domination 2) US (~1200GW) - mostly gas, growing due to AI data centres 3) Europe(1100GW) - in crisis due to decarbonization In RSA, the mainstream energy advice was to imitate Europe, resulting in the biggest energy crisis between 2020 and 2023

Also, nobody is forcing Elon and Starlink to do business in South Africa. They should stop acting like they are being held ransom to come to SA.
