As a media practitioner, I must say I am genuinely impressed by the renewed surge of energy being injected into various media platforms, starting with the national broadcaster, and extending to outlets such as Newzroom Afrika, Power FM and others. There is a noticeable sense that the industry is reasserting itself by investing in stronger talent, sharper programming and more substantive conversations. This is a welcome development in a time when credible journalism and thoughtful broadcasting are more necessary than ever. I am hopeful that this renewed momentum will also translate into greater investment in community radio stations. These platforms remain some of the most important vehicles for local voices, civic participation and community storytelling, yet they often operate with limited resources. Our media sector, though frequently under attack and sometimes deservedly so , appears to be raising its standards and recalibrating its purpose. That, in my view, is an encouraging and important development.
