@MatrixMysteries Scam. The lab work cash price is $211 for a full panel; with insurance, it is close to $ 2,600. Pay cash for necessary prescriptions and use GoodRx coupons. So much cheaper, but if you have insurance on file at the pharmacy, they automatically run that first.

This is why insurance is a scam. I paid $60 bucks years ago for an xray. I paid cash because it was an expense item. Throughout the checkout the clerk kept reminding me I have great insurance and could pay $40. The $40 was 20% of what they would bill insurance. So they were going to bill insurance $800.

If a hospital ever tells you that you must use insurance they are in violation of the HITECH act. All you have to do is tell them you do not want your health information shared with your insurance company. A lot of hospitals tell this lie to increase revenue but they are breaking the law.
