Finally, the Texas Rangers select Bishop Feehan LHP Brody Bumila with the 89th pick in the MLB draft. He posted a 1.07 ERA this year with 108 strikeouts across 46 IP as a senior, earning Massachusetts Gatorade Player of the Year. Questions over where Bumila would fall arose with reports of another UCL injury. The projected first-rounder — a 6-foot-9 100-mph flamethrower — dropped to the third round.

Jace Mataczynski was ranked #131 on MLB Pipleline’s big board. Came in a bit higher at 102 on @BaseballAmerica’s list.
6-3, 190. Stronger runner. Has the ability to be a “high-caliber shortstop defender.” Seen as a potential 20-20 guy one day.
His swing has been critiqued heavily though. He’ll need to be talked out of his Auburn commitment.

Scrappy dude. Hit over power. Doesn’t swing-and-miss much. Arm strength points to 2B, but he’s reliable at shortstop. 60-runner, but it’s viewed as plus speed with good instincts. Seems like the type of profile the Red Sox think they can unlock more power from. Clear underslot pick.

Regarding Sox drafting underrated Schaffner, Sox shocked baseball world with Nick Yorke with for the first-round pick in 2020, signed him under slot, then spent well above slot in signing their second pick Blaze Jordan. With a deeper draft this year, could be part of the strategy
