Yesterday I asked you guys why we see more donking in PLO compared to NLHE? The most popular answer by far was that it's harder to get stacks in, so BB is under more pressure to build a pot faster. I tested this hypothesis by keeping ranges constant while changing the stack-to-pot ratio. Interestingly, BB leads out less often, not more often, as we get deeper.

There is a situation where running it twice will shift a player’s equity but it shouldn’t be allowed. In a multiway all-in if two big stacks want to run main+side pot twice the shorty must agree to run the main twice. Otherwise the equities will shift for one of the large stacks

@Killian757 @Andy_Bloch @BartHanson for the short stack in the situation i described above because the dead 2 pair can get half of the main AND side pot, so bart says the short stack either has to agree to twice for the main or the main pot has to be once only

@Andy_Bloch @BartHanson short stack has top set, one big stack has top 2 and other has a flush draw. a hand that should be dead to win any part of the main pot all of a sudden has equity in the main if the flush draw gets there on the first runout

@tombos21 Any to incentive more play is good. Big ante, squid, firetruck, SB game But in private/stream games there is this unspoken gentlemans 🤝 to play more hands than is optimal. It only becomes a problem when one person doesnt adhere to that and captures the ev the table is giving up

I often see Nik Airball needling players for being tight. That got me thinking. Streamed cash games have a weird incentive problem. The structure of the game typically rewards tight play, but an entertaining show demands action. So players are socially pressured to give up EV and play looser to preserve their invite. But that's dumb. Don’t guilt players into punting. Instead, build a game where the optimal strategy is splashy. So how does one design a splashy game? First, toss the rake. Timed rake or no rake will obviously play wider than a traditionally raked game. Second, toss the blinds. Contrary to popular belief, adding blinds makes optimal strategy tighter, not wider. So throw out the straddles. In fact, throw out the SB while you're at it. One blind is all you need. Lastly, add a FAT ante. One player posting 1bb + 3bb ante is more than enough to make the optimal strategy very splashy. Plus it preserves stack depth (compared to straddles), so you get deeper more interesting battles.

@tombos21 A strategy is exploitable if hero can change his strategy and gain EV. How much depends on villains strategy. But has to do with pot share hero is losing.

The most important question in poker is: what makes a strategy exploitable, and for how much? Whether you play balanced or exploitative, every strategic framework must ultimately build on that central question.

A dealer just quit in the middle of a live hand in my MTT at my table. Never seen anything like it. Player not in the hand is harassing the dealer because he stepped away and had his hand mucked preflop. He keeps going at the dealer, there's a big pot on the river, he says (1/2)
