The SoS @wesstreeting set the criteria for a Public Inquiry in December. Today Sir Brian Langstaff addressed the generic ‘Inquiries cost too much’ objections. Why are you waiting? Why are we waiting? The sooner a PI is ordered the sooner systemic failure can be addressed.

If you're against "a fixed recoverable costs scheme to limit the costs that may be recovered in respect of certain cases of clinical negligence", write to your MP. A quick email to say that you oppose this bill 👇 bills.parliament.uk/bills/4103

If we look at the Post Office scandal, a probe into NHS legal teams & lawyers acting on behalf of the NHS might be something that needs doing. A statutory public inquiry would be able to do that. @wesstreeting

Smoke and mirrors. 🧵 "we need a clear & explicit code of conduct for all legal professionals working for, or on behalf of, the NHS" How would a legal NHS Code of conduct sit with SRA & BSB? Would lawyers' obligations be to the NHS or SRA/BSB first? 1/

Maternity: Right to Recover Campaign
The ruling is not surprising, but it starkly exposes the cruel reality faced by fathers, mothers and partners who suffer avoidable harm and are left with lasting psychological trauma, yet encounter a system that offers neither accountability nor redress. This is precisely why we established our campaign. It is now clearer than ever that meaningful change will only come through legislative reform—reform that recognises, within a maternity setting, a duty of care and a right to recover, correcting outdated legal principles that no longer reflect modern societal expectations. We need a fair system of redress—one that acts swiftly, learns lessons, and sits within a framework that takes responsibility when avoidable harm occurs. Maternity is unique, and the law must recognise that. @wesstreeting

In Nottingham 77% of people had never had any contact from the MNVP 20% didn’t know who they were and the 1 person that had contact had a terrible experience 🤷🏻‍♀️ they are not fit to hold meetings Never mind the conflicts in Oxford which won’t be isolated @wesstreeting @ValerieAmos

What gets me is families have been saying for a long while about these people and have been being ignored when will people pay attention. The GMC isn’t fit for purpose!

I call it the revolving door… it’s just blatant now and it’s clearly an approved Practice that is so blatant now it usually goes unchallenged or if challenged ignored. Who’s next on the list..?

The question is, given the magic roundabout that is senior NHS management roles, who else is in a current position that is incompatible with investigations / reform / oversight / general good governance? #maternitysafety #NHS @CareQualityComm @wesstreeting

Families affected by maternity care failings in Leeds and Sussex say they want Donna, and only Donna, to do their reviews. Donna says she can do it. What's the hold up @wesstreeting?
Rob Sissons@RobSissons1

Donna Ockenden says she would be prepared to carry out maternity reviews in Leeds ⁦@LeedsHospitals⁩ and Sussex IF ⁦@wesstreeting⁩ asks. Says is "honoured" families want her -and would find ways for it to work alongside the Nottingham inquiry

Julian Hartley should have never been given the role of CEO at the CQC. So many families were failed during his tenure, mine included & from the start of my CQC case I had no belief that action would be taken because that action would have been against their CEO.

You called us a mob. You confirmed we are being spoken about in a derogatory way along with others by those who have so much power. You are doing exactly what you are accusing us of right now. It’s awful. x.com/judyledger/sta…

Referring to us as ‘the angry mob’ though. You have a right to be angry but calling us a mob. Is this how we are spoken about behind closed doors at @babylifeline then..? Because that’s next level horrifying

These beautiful depictions of Wynter are just squeezing my heart. My Elfi fell asleep the other night listening to Wynters wish and I couldn’t hold back the tears so gorgeous so sad 💚💚
