My developed but succinct thoughts on the new Path of Exile 2 league: -Druid awesome, it’s buggy, would love more form skills. It is why I am having fun in PoE2 primarily in the new league -League mechanic is good in campaign, falls of entirely in endgame, I do not like it, too complicated, not enough reward for time and it doesn’t offer much new fun content. I might not get to fight Atziri lol -Campaign is still the best part of the game by far, so fun, endgame is just not it for me still—think I might just make another Druid lol and playthrough all the forms -FPS is better, performance is worse and I am hitting more bugs than ever before For context: I have played for about 20 hours and am in T5 waystones with my highest level character. What does everyone else think? I will release an actual initial thoughts in a bit.

5 days left until Path of Exile 2: The Last of the Druids launches! Fact of the day: While of the three shapeshifting forms I am most enticed by the Bear, the Wolf assuredly has its merits, especially if you're in love with snappy, quicker gameplay. Honestly, it might be what I gravitate to as I've been a tremendous monk enjoyer, and this looks like Hollow Palm Technique in wolf's clothing... I'm really curious if cycling through different form abilities WILL be viable. I'm pretty certain it won't be optimal, especially at release, but it being a realistic option is something I'm keen to learn. PoE2 actively has the option to swap into different archetypes ENTIRELY at the press of a button, but I've never pursued it as it just seems...too difficult to craft out a real build around it. Truly using a quarterstaff and a spear, meaningfully, not as a movement speed gimmick seems to be in the same vein as swapping from Wolf to Wyvern form. Regardless, super pumped to leap into 0.4 in several days. I'll be chatting with Neversink later today about his thoughts on the reveal as a longtime PoE player and creator and tomorrow is the Jonathan Rogers interview! Talk to you on lives, exiles!

If you tell me initial sales are good for a game, and that's your only qualifying metric, I'm just gonna laugh at you now. You have to start thinking more longitudinally. Initial sales always look amazing, it's the slow burn after that used to decay much slower.

@King0Old Knowing how the business works, like, I get it. At the AAA level, a game won't get significant investment unless it can do like, 3-10 year returns via microtransactions, DLC, etc. Mobile just shortcuts the initial investment and makes a ton more money. Industry's topheavy.

@EricDziadzio In this day and age, Indie games is the top. Seems every "AAA" game is just hot garbage made by extremely greedy delusional people that need to go out and touch some grass

People's valuations of time are all over the place now. There's no well defined AAA structure anymore. Indie games are doing great, as they should. This is a time for bold, fresh ideas.
