With all this fresh geopolitical shit, I'll be building a position in equities very slowly for the long-haul -- I wasnt planning on jumping in all at once or anything to begin with, but slow and steady for the portion of the portfolio I want in equities seems more prudent than ever
keeping plenty of cash as well to be nimble in case a deep bear market shows up across any asset classes, including equities, and creates obvious opportunities
When I was a young, poor peasant, it made sense to take big, calculated risks
Nowadays diversification across asset classes, keeping plenty of cash and playing a balanced offense and defense makes more sense to me and for me
The truth is, what anyone should do is not only dependent on markets themselves, but also the stage they are at in life...
It's strange how the diversified, middle path is so seemingly anathema to normies these days
First of all, I like to hold some cash in money markets at all times. I think it makes sense to be flexible. Yet some people have this fomo where every last dollar needs to EARNING EARNING EARNING at all times, and it leads to them staking their money in weird fixed income ponzus that sometimes fall apart, or high risk investments that crater and leave them with no cushion
Or they are too paranoid to deploy into anything remotely risky with any of their money, and watch as their pile of only fiat and fixed income slowly becomes worthless as printers go brr
Imo having a bit of everything, making some smart concentrated bets on conviction plays (regardless of asset class) and keeping some cushion is a nice way to approach things
And that'll I'm sure be ignored and not blv'd by the masses
many such cases etc
From now on I doubt I'll talk any markets much; I just dont really find markets as interesting as I used to. Maybe that'll change someday, who knows
For now, mainly focused on writing a novel and building business
and shitposting of course

I don't think people appreciate how low global natural gas inventories are - Europe in particular, but SK and others too. The rise in LNG has allowed for less stockpiling but opens up shortage risks in times like these. Long $EQT $AR $RRC $CRK $CNX $EXE and my coal basket too.

EUROPE has depleted its gas inventories faster than average this winter in the expectation there would plenty of LNG to refill them over the coming summer. EU storage sites are on average just 30% full down from more than 82% when the winter heating season started on October 1. The drawdown of 53 percentage points is well above the ten-year seasonal average of 46 percentage points. But refilling will be much more difficult and expensive unless the closure of the Strait of Hormuz to tanker traffic and the production halt following attacks on Qatar are quickly reversed. Benchmark TTF futures prices have already surged to €58 per megawatt-hour from €32 prior to outbreak of the war and €28 in early January:

@KingChads Yes. Bonds are a very bad buy in my opinion. If holding for any meaningful time horizon you're signing up to lose at a minimum real purchasing power and very likely nominally too.

first, money was gold then, the state replaced it with paper after, satoshi created digital gold, bitcoin this was a big improvement, but it was missing a core trait of real gold fungibility a core property of gold is that it's fungible; you can interchange it with other gold but once you add serial numbers and tracking, you can diminish the value and cancel it based on its history in other words, without privacy, you can not get fungibility, and hence you can't fully replicate gold money at internet-scale this wasn't Satoshi's fault, he wanted to add this the reason it wasn't added is that we did not have the technology to make this a reality back then (ZK) we have the technology now unencrypted money is a bug
