After I made that post about Olaka Osaronu fortnight ago, a guy came to my dm and asked me how I knew Olaka. I told him he was my best friend in the university. We were friends from year 2 till we graduated. I even sent him pictures of us together till sign out day.😓😓
He asked for my WhatsApp number and I gave him. Then he said he will get back to me later that day. Later that evening, a number called on video call. I picked and it was Olaka. I had not heard from him after graduation 3 years ago. I was very surprised and happy.✅✅
But Olaka was not happy. In fact, he spoke to me with tears in his eyes. I asked what happened and he began with “Oboy, the engineering dream is fading away right before my eyes o”. What happened bro?😓😓
Some weeks after graduation, Olaka went to school to start his clearance so he could mobilize for NYSC. I had gone already so he was doing his. When he got to school, he noticed he required some finances to clear in one or two departments before finishing up. He called his aunty who is a politician(name and picture withheld for now) and she asked him to come to ELEME (where he’s from) to collect some money from her.✅✅
Olaka went there and met them in ELEME secondary school field. They were doing a political rally for the then LGA chairman under SIM FUBARA. Once agajn, the name and picture of the LGA chairman is withheld for now. Suddenly, some boys started shooting and a bullet hit Olaka on his femur 🦴, piercing through and breaking his bones.😓😓
He was rushed to Rehoboth Specialist hospital. The doctor there (name withheld) immediately recommended 3 surgeries as the wound was very severe. The aunty, alongside Olaka’s dad managed to raise 3 million naira and the first surgery was done.✅✅
But after that, Olaka was left to his fate. The aunty that called him, the LGA chairman that organized the campaign rally and everyone meant to help him deserted him. He even told me that the matter got to Governor Sim Fubara because there were lots of casualties throughout Rivers state and the governor directed that everyone affected should be properly taken care of by the chairmen then😓😓.
But nothing happened for Olaka. After sometime in the hospital, the doctor had to discharge him and sent him home. Out of the remaining 2 surgeries, he hasn’t done any. It’s been almost a year now and Olaka is at home doing self medication with no help from anyone whatsoever.😓😓
Olaka’s leg has deteriorated so badly that he now fears it might be amputated if medical attention is not given to him anytime soon.😓😓
This is one of the most intelligent person I’ve ever been friends with. At a time I couldn’t go into exam or test halls without Olaka, and we had so much dreams together. Learning of this has just completely broken me.😓😓🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Please we need to help Olaka. Share this post, tag every necessary organization or personality. Tag Sir Siminalayi Fubara. Olaka is a victim of Rivers State political crisis, he should not be left to die while he can still be helped. He needs to take the surgery and medication to be well again.😓😓🙏🙏
