Welcome to another tutorial on our $Percolator Tutorial series Let’s talk about something many traders hear about but rarely understand Oracles An oracle is simply a system that brings real market prices onto the blockchain Imagine you’re building a trading platform on-chain. The blockchain itself has no idea what BTC is worth in the real world. It needs an external source to report that information That’s the job of an oracle. For example, if Bitcoin is trading around $70,000 across major exchanges, an oracle reports that price so smart contracts can use it. Percolator uses Pyth, which is one of the fastest and most widely used price oracle systems in crypto Why does this matter? Because if the exchange only looked at its own internal trades, someone could manipulate the market easily Here’s a simple example 👇 👇 Imagine a small market where only a few people are trading. One trader places a large buy order and temporarily pushes the price up. If the system trusted that single trade, it might think the real price moved up. That could cause other traders to get liquidated unfairly. But if the system also checks an oracle price, it can say: “Wait a second. The global market says BTC is $70k. That one trade is not enough to change reality.” So the oracle acts like a reference point for the entire exchange. It’s basically the system saying: “We’re not going to let one random trade decide the real price.” That’s why oracle integration is such an important part of Percolator’s pricing engine

Most people who trade perpetual futures never stop to ask one important question - Who actually decides the price you’re trading at? On a normal exchange you see numbers moving up and down SOL is $70, then $75, then $82... But behind those numbers is a system constantly calculating what the fair market price should be That system is called the pricing engine Think of it like a referee in a football match. The referee is not playing the game, but they make sure the rules are followed so nobody cheats. In trading, the pricing engine plays that role. If the pricing system is weak, traders can manipulate prices with small trades For example, imagine a trader places a tiny order just to push the price slightly higher, triggering liquidations for other traders. This has happened many times across crypto. That’s why exchanges spend a lot of time designing pricing engines carefully. What’s interesting about Percolator is that the project is building its pricing system with multiple layers of checks instead of relying on one signal So instead of blindly trusting one number, the system constantly compares different pieces of information before deciding the price For traders this matters more than people think Because a strong pricing engine means fewer unfair liquidations, fewer manipulation attempts, and a much more stable market And in trading, stability is what separates serious infrastructure from short-lived experiments Watch out for more $Percolator educational contents

Percolator update: Oracle keeper now auto discovers new markets. You spin up a perp market on devnet, it gets a real price from Jupiter on block 1 and the keeper picks it up automatically. No manual config. No stale $1 oracle.
