A few numbers from the last eight months at Aalo: Building: 36 days. Reactor assembled: 28 days. 540 fuel rods loaded: under 2.5 days. Construction to criticality: under 8 months. Founding to fission: under 3 years. And nobody got hurt and nothing broke. Fast and safe are not opposites.

🚨 Erling Haaland refuses to throw Sørloth under the bus after Norway's defeat to England. 🇳🇴 🗣️ Erling Haaland: Alexander Sørloth is a great player and, more importantly, a very good friend of mine. Football is a game of decisions, and sometimes you make the right one, sometimes you don't. People watching from home have time to slow everything down and analyse every angle, but on the pitch you have a split second to make a decision. That's football. I'll never blame him for that moment because we've all been in those situations. Every player has made a decision they wish they could take back. I'm proud of what we've achieved as a team. Reaching the World Cup quarter-finals was something very few people believed we could do before the tournament started. We gave our country something to be proud of. We fought for every badge, every shirt and every supporter who believed in us. Losing to England wasn't because of one pass or one missed opportunity. We created chances throughout the game. We had moments where we could have scored, and they had moments where they punished us. That's football. Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, but you never point fingers at one teammate. We win together, and we lose together. I'll always stand by Alexander, just as I know he'd stand by me. That's what being teammates is all about. We leave this tournament disappointed, but also proud. This is only the beginning for Norway, and we'll come back stronger.

Regardless of where you stand on Phia, this is a must read response by @AlexPallNY. The court of public opinion is quick to tear down high profile builders and Alex is building something real with Mantis. He’s one of the most sincere VCs I know and is being unjustly targeted in all of this because of his success. His response below shows his professionalism and maturity. Time will tell whether Phia did anything wrong here, but Alex/mantis certainly didn’t. Also, I agree with Alex that the broader community should be more empathetic, rather than breaking out the pitch forks before anything is known and spewing toxicity on topics they don’t understand. There are better ways to get clicks than bullying from the safety of your cell phone.
Alex Pall@AlexPallNY

lol this is funny. I just want to say a couple of things and then I’m done with this convo. First off this was a small personal check from us outside of Mantis. We do not do consumer via our fund but personally we can invest in anything we want to support.

Wolfe Research believes $MU DRAM gross margins currently exceed 90%. That matters because AI servers pull DRAM from two layers with HBM stacked on the GPU and high capacity DRAM feeding the whole node. That gives demand two independent legs making this upcycle look more structural than the usual memory spike.

💾 HBM4 Contract Prices: A Major Hike Is Coming With 2027 HBM4 talks underway, TrendForce expects substantial price hikes to reflect supply-demand imbalance and rising next-gen costs. Demand from next-gen GPU platforms and AI ASICs, with growing die sizes, will aggravate the capacity squeeze. 📈 3Q26 #DRAM and #NAND Flash contract prices are expected to continue rising, although weaker consumer demand and a higher comparison base should moderate gains.💡#TrendForce on memory pricing trends: buff.ly/1KorM47 🔗

YUP. Currently no end to the supply vs demand imbalance in sight for either category of memory. That will change at some point so the question is “what’s priced in relative to reality?” Key variable is w/n the demand side changes or not due to efficiencies or other shortages (energy) limiting deployment. While capacity on the supply side will build and increase substantially; that probably can’t hit in volume til 2Q 2027 <—> 1Q 2028. IF (it’s always an “if”) that is the case; AND IF the upward slope of demand does not decelerate; prices will have positive bias for another 9-12 months before flattening. If demand accelerates.. there won’t be enough capacity for several years. That scenario (a point / static picture in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment) would suggest equity prices for this category (memory stocks) are stable / positive bias through year end. But who really knows?!?? 😊

UBS raises its DRAM and NAND price forecasts DRAM prices are now expected to rise 32% QoQ in Q3 and 18% QoQ in Q4. NAND prices are expected to rise 30% QoQ in Q3 and 12% QoQ in Q4.

California’s Property Seizure Act - called “The Billionaire Tax” to fool voters is now on the ballot. @HooverInst has a short 4min video breaking it down. youtu.be/x6k4W5Qzg8U?is… You should vote for this if you are comfortable handing over 5%, in cash, of all your tangible and intangible property every year. You should vote no if you don’t want to do that. If it passes, the remaining Billionaires will sue. This will take a decade to meander through the courts and will find its way to the Supreme Court where the odds it survives are low. But in that intervening decade, far fewer business builders will want to bet on California and will focus on building in other states. This will drive a large loss of revenue that will make California’s budget hole even worse. The only solution there is more borrowing and higher taxes on EVERYONE including those that voted NO. This will particularly impact the middle class who are Californias largest revenue source. The only path out of an avoidable budget spiral is a hard landing and structural reset. Sadly, a hard landing will mean a near-miss with California bankruptcy and, more punitively, a reset/retrade of state pensions with California lenders to not come collect. If you aren’t sure or don’t believe me, vote YES and bookmark this post. A decade from now you can tell me I was wrong or give me the opportunity to lord over your stupidity, jealousy and gullibility for voting YES when I am proven right.

Stirling-PDF is a strong, privacy-focused open-source toolkit that handles the most common PDF jobs extremely well: merge/split/reorder, compress, convert, OCR, redact, watermark, password protection, and basic signing. It runs locally via Docker or its new desktop apps (Windows/Mac/Linux since v2.0), with no data leaving your machine — a big advantage over online tools or Adobe's cloud features. It has 81k+ GitHub stars and is genuinely popular for batch work and automation via its API. Adobe Acrobat Pro remains better for precise text/layout editing, complex forms, professional print production, and polished workflows. Stirling's text editing is newer and not yet at Acrobat's maturity. For most people dealing with sensitive docs or repetitive tasks, Stirling is excellent and saves serious money. Power users who need deep editing will still prefer (or combine with) Acrobat. The original post is accurate on the core strengths.

This is a great perspective, if it plays out. I suppose the naysayer's will chime in "but the earnings are cyclical" , expecting the earnings of the big 6 to later surpass the memory companies in a few years. Hard to know how things will play out of course, given the continuing growth in demand for memory with each generation of GPU and CPU, and constrained supply, gated by the pace of availability of chip fab equipment and size of capital commitment needed to increase supply. The magnitude of 'earnings power' of the memory companies today is mind blowing. (full discloseure; I've been long $MU for some time now)
Trade Whisperer@TradexWhisperer

$MU $DRAM Unbelievable $707,000,000,000. That is the projected 2027 operating profit of 3 memory companies. Apple + Microsoft + Google + Amazon + Meta + Tesla combined? ~$661 Billion. The Memory Trio beats the Magnificent 6. Not revenue. Operating profit.

“It's literally the gulag,” one of the employees claims. “You have zero purpose in life all of a sudden, you barely interact with anyone, you just have these tasks every week." Another employee describes some of the tasks—generating puzzles to test how reliably AI models from Meta and other companies can solve them—as easy compared to the software development work they had been doing previously. But the new projects feel menial, and “almost all” employees seem unhappy, they say. “Most people find the work soul-crushing,” the third employee says. wired.com/story/mark-zuc…
