@gleb_alexandrov Feel free to buy a samsung odyssey 3D G90XF. There was also the Nintendo 3DS and it's new 3DS variant with tracking, just a few years later the hype died on the 3D effect. There was also Nvidia 3D Vision. Technology and Products are available, people just don't buy them.

How this technology hasn't yet made its way into mainstream games? In some ways its WAY more accessible vr.

Something that I need to get it off my chest

Unity's core tooling is below Unreal's. You have to build a lot of things yourself or get it from the asset store. Unity also feels very fractured and scattered, like the rendering pipeline back and forth (don't even get me started on their licensing blunders), also checking the package manager if it has a feature available or not. Unreal has a very robust core system with lots of asset types ready for use and deeply integrated/connected in the engine. Like skeletal mesh editing, with sockets tied to animation editing with anim signals, with available cloth sim editing right there, fur and hair card generator if needed also there, mesh editing, vertex painting and sculpting tools right there in the editor. It's things like this that add up when working on projects, aside from the obvious things like lumen and nanite where you can just drop in any high poly assets and it just works.

Why isn't Unity being used as much as Unreal Engine 5 to develop realistic-looking games?

@Pirat_Nation Do they also go for, idk, gamestop or walmart or whatever stores they have that is selling these games? Either way that's stupid, these games already licensed the music for their products to be included and sold.

British music rights organisation PRS for Music is suing Valve, claiming that Valve must pay separate licensing fees for "making available" games that include music from PRS members. The dispute targets games sold or downloaded via Steam that feature such music without Valve holding the required UK licence. Examples cited include Forza Horizon, FIFA/EA FC, and the Grand Theft Auto series.

Nintendo is suing the US government over tariffs. Nintendo of America filed a lawsuit seeking refunds with interest for tariffs paid since February 1, 2025, on imported goods such as consoles and accessories. The complaint calls the executive tariffs unlawful under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

@ChristFan_ @Rothmus While PVM/BVM can look sharp and crisp, which are the go to retro enthusiast monitors, most cheaper consumer CRTs people had in their homes back then were blurry, had color bleeding and signal noise. (but it was still a blast to play the games that way)

@hanaamurakami Some, not all. But it seems the percentage of attractive girls is higher than in most other countries. (purely subjective) Once you see the city nightlife, many, while looking cute, seem undateable by their personality / behaviour.
