@CrispClaud43862 @LucyStorer3 @ballater6 That's because experienced teachers can't afford to work supply any more - pay is disgraceful after the agencies take their cut. They're also often treated appallingly in schools. It's just not worth it

@LucyStorer3 @ballater6 Surely safeguarding isn’t an issue if it’s a local authority bank. The supply teachers we get in are mostly shocking. Their performance isn’t reviewed and none are qualified teachers. I couldn’t believe this. Their only teaching qualification is an agency “teaching day.” Shocking

Anyone remember the time before there was recruitment agencies offering supply teachers - when schools had a bank if supply they could ring and pay them the daily rate without any fees been taken by agencies ….

@ballater6 @LucyStorer3 It's the other way around - teachers have to sign up with agencies because schools prefer to use them than employ direct. It's easier for schools - if a supply teacher is ill they can be replaced. Agencies do the leg (& dirty) work. It's all part of commodification of education

Plans for the TERF dress have been a bit delayed because we lost Gloria. I stitched it bit by bit when I could focus, while she lay at the side of me sleeping. It’s nearly finished but we have found the last few weeks really hard. Losing her was devastating. We need to recover a bit. Then I’ll contact the 50+ women who have kindly offered to host sessions around the UK - for names to be sewn on to the dress. Give me a week or so. 🙏 Just to remind you how glorious she was. My ❤️.
