Gangetics Brahmins average at 38-39% S-Indian, West UP Brahmins (Gaurs) average at 34-35% S-Indian.

Gedmatch HW of another UP Brahmin. Now, these are standard results. There are Shukla, Mishra, Tiwari even Sharma going till 47 SI on HW. Their West UP Brahmin score 38-39 SI. Even that West UP Brahmin trolling larping to be xyz through manipulated runs scores 39 SI on these calc

@KoshurHistorian @lifeisPandC I have never seen a UP Brahmin sample w/<35 SI. Tyagi avg is more like 37-38 SI, while LOTS of East UP/Bihar Brahmins score 40+ SI. brahmin-uttar-pradesh HW avg is itself 42 SI. There is even a confirmed high-SNP East UP kit that scores 45.95 SI with high NE Euro.

@lifeisPandC Why aren't you showing any HW samples for Karnataka Brahmins on this list? HW's listed avg is 45.91 SI. Even if you only want to take high-SNP kits (which is ridiculous considering most private samples are not high-coverage), groups like Havyakas still average out to 44-45 SI.

South Indian Brahmin, below in the list their people quote. 47 SI will not give them 32 SAHG, in decent model would be 40 SAHG. Clear case of deflating their numbers ( thru shady runs) taking adv of gap - no SAHG sample. Even on Old Illustrativedna they are 40+. Look at this 🤣

@Non_Asian_Ls It's a combination of factors. Dairy consumption (which you could say is thanks to high rates of Steppe-endowed lactose tolerance), booming agricultural economy relative to poorer states. Gangetic Brahmins have more Steppe than most NWers, but poverty has limited their stature.

@buddhawi10 Even if your premise happened to be correct (which it certainly isn't), higher Steppe ancestry would still not change their haplogroup frequencies, which is what makes Brahmins Brahmins regardless of minor autosomal differences due to ancient absorption of local admixture.

@SecularFascist6 @indianwaffen Nope, it's Neolithic Farmer. Even if we conservatively assume that Dravidian Brahmins have 40% AASI and 15% Steppe, that still gives us 45% Farmer ancestry (mostly Zagros, with some Anatolian too). Not the case for any South Indian non-Brahmin.

UP/Bih/Bengal Brahmins are generally genetically closer to South Indian Brahmin groups (Havyaka, Nambudiri) than they are to Brahmins of other regions. Their AASI levels often even overlap. I suppose that makes Bengali and most Gangetic Brahmins also "Australoid".
