Works like Yajnyavalkya extended it to five generations on the mother’s side as well. Crazy to see some cultures still struggle with the idea of exogamy 26 years into the fabled 21st century. I mean, were the Habsburgs not enough?

@EBanerjee18476 @Schandillia Gotra is male lineage, female lineage can be common. And within same caste + region if you go back enough gen, there will absolutely be common ancestors. Also I am talking about intermarriage between castes. Why was this not allowed? Why were lower castes treated like animals?

When a community's TFR drops below 1, far under the 2.1 replacement level, it faces rapid population decline and aging. For Bengali Hindus, TFR below 1.0 means our unique cultural heritage, traditions, and local representation will quietly go extinct over the next two generations.
