@MDBitcoin “Hard truth Bitcoin maxis don’t like Bitcoin is ‘decentralized’… but your wallet is hosted on Amazon Web Services. Trustless in the whitepaper, trusted on the server 🚬”

"Where are the servers of Bitcoin located?” - Prof Jiang That single question from Jiang shows the misunderstanding immediately. Bitcoin does not run on one company’s servers, Bitcoin runs on a distributed network of nodes spread across the world, which is exactly why it is hard to censor, shut down, or control, plus the mining system on top of it to protect it with energy. When someone frames Bitcoin like a centralized system, they are not critiquing Bitcoin as it is. They are critiquing a version of Bitcoin that exists only in their own confusion.

Title: Bitcoin Can’t Be Controlled — But Wallets Can Bitcoin was designed to be a decentralized system. No central bank, no authority, no single point of control. In theory: “Your keys, your coins.” But in reality, things are not that simple. --- The Invisible Layer: Wallets & Infrastructure Most users today do not run their own full node. Instead, they rely on: - Mobile wallets - Web wallets - Exchanges - API-based services Many of these depend on cloud infrastructure like Amazon Web Services (AWS) or similar providers. This creates a hidden layer: The Bitcoin network remains decentralized, but access to it is often filtered through centralized services. --- From Trustless to “Trusted Interface” Bitcoin was built to remove trust. Yet most users today: - Trust wallet backends - Trust remote nodes to show balances - Trust third-party servers to broadcast transactions Technically, Bitcoin is still decentralized. But in practice: Bitcoin is increasingly accessed through centralized interfaces. --- Upgrades and the “Security” Narrative Bitcoin upgrades (BIPs) are often introduced as: - Security improvements - Efficiency upgrades - Future-proofing However, concerns are starting to emerge: What if upgrades begin to: - Push users to migrate wallets - Make older systems obsolete - Indirectly force compliance through risk or limitation This is not direct control. It is something more subtle: Control through standards and evolution. --- Control Without Controlling the Protocol Bitcoin itself is extremely hard to control. But the layers around it are not: - Wallets can restrict features - Nodes can filter transactions - Interfaces can censor or guide behavior - Services can enforce policies And most users never interact with the protocol directly. They interact with products. --- The Illusion of Decentralization For many retail users: They believe they are using a decentralized system, while still depending on centralized infrastructure. This creates a paradox: The system is free, but access to it is not fully free. --- Is This a Conspiracy? Not necessarily. There is no clear evidence of a coordinated effort to control Bitcoin. But there are natural forces at play: - Convenience leads to centralization - Regulation encourages compliance - Companies optimize for control and stability The outcome is the same: The layers built on top of Bitcoin become easier to control. --- Conclusion Bitcoin itself cannot easily be controlled. But the way people access and use it can be. And in the real world: What gets controlled is not always the system — but the gateway to the system. --- Me: “Bitcoin is decentralized. But your access to it? That’s a different story.”
