Unpopular opinion (maybe?)...
Pudgy Penguins still don’t get enough credit.
I think the space has honestly gotten a bit used to, or even spoiled by, how fast they’ve been moving the last couple years. It’s started to feel normal. And that’s wild, cause it's anything but normal.
But what’s impressed me most lately is this: they’ve somehow kept up this insane pace of delivery while pushing quality and execution to an entirely new level.
Quality was always good. But recently, it’s been taken up a notch across the board:
• The new brand guidelines feel world-class.
• Pudgy Party is the most polished Web3 game I’ve personally seen, with millions of downloads.
• The AI-voiced plushie "Springer" is a hit in my house, my kids are obsessed.
• The Manchester City collab looks premium af, the hoodie stitching and materials are no joke.
• The Sphere animation was easily the cutest thing ever shown on there.
• The Schleich collectibles are another massive mainstream unlock.
And that’s just scratching the surface. Most of this is recent. And it still feels like the warm-up.
Looking ahead, with some speculation but backed by hints from Luca and the team, I’m excited for long-form Pudgy Penguin storytelling at true AAA quality, think a movie or series done by a renowned studio. Pudgy World coming soon. New website and collector profile coming soon. Even bigger brand partnerships than we’ve seen so far. And whatever comes out of the team spending serious time in Washington and engaging directly with regulators...
“Year of the Penguin” isn’t just a catchy tagline.
It’s a promise.
And once the market stops jerking around, there’s honestly no place I’d rather be than the huddle.
