June 23, 2010: On the brink of World Cup elimination, @LandonDonovan scores the game winner in stoppage time against Algeria 🇩🇿 to send USA 🇺🇸 to the knockout round.

@Chris_arnade Do your routes always stay on the same road or do you change it up sometimes?

South Beach Bustop, 6 a.m.
Me to guy rooting through trash: Can I pay for bus with my phone?
Him: Why u paying? It's free
Me: I want to go further
Him: Where?
Me: Opa-Locka
Him: Fuck, that's far. Why a man like you want to go to Opa-Locka
Me: Personal reasons
Him shacking his head: No need to go that far. I can get whatever you looking for.
Me: Well...
Him: You want to get fucked up, I can get you what you want. You want to get your dick sucked, I know people...
Me: I...
Him: I got whatever you want. Don't need to be going all the way to nasty Opa-locka.

@byuk_two @Nati_Sports We were sitting behind the end zone where Chad Johnson scored with under a minute. Entire stadium went nuts throwing snow in the air celebrating.

@foxbase_alpha17 @cammillerfilms I forgot how long that elevated walkway between the Coliseum and Riverfront was too.

@BennieTheJet_ @DonnieDoesWorld It’s worth every penny. I’m through security and beat my bag to the carousel 99% of the time.

@DonnieDoesWorld My girlfriend is making me do the interview on Wednesday. Healthy debate, global entry is a waste waste of time and money? Tell me I’m wrong.

@Nati_Sports Maybe they let the fans vote on the play calling for the rest of the season?

As someone who was looking for a job during that time, I swear that people have forgotten just how bleak late 2008 and early 2009 were. The layoffs were so rampant that you could almost physically feel the bottom falling out of the economy.
John Burn-Murdoch@jburnmurdoch
Meanwhile, the vibes are roughly where they were at the worst point of the 2008 crash, a time when: • Unemployment was rising every week • Inflation was higher than today and rising • Wages were falling • Wealth was plummeting

@hib343434 Merino wool is the way to go, more expensive but quality. Waterproof and solid boots are more important though.

@Chris_arnade Glad I’m not the only one who does walking circuits before flights.
English

I don’t use lounges because
1) I like to do walking circuits of airports, to get steps in before long flights
2) I like to plane spot; and lounges are very rarely good for that
3) I don’t eat or drink before flying - helps with jet lag & general comfort
4) not a big fan of the lounge scene. Too much travel bragging inside.
John LeFevre@JohnLeFevre
I hate airport lounges and the people in them: - Inconveniently located and overcrowded - The food sucks, and the free drinks are cheap - Filled with Willy Loman frequent flyers and credit card points losers scrolling Instagram - Entry-level LV bags on Rimowa carry-ons - Using words like "bougie" as a compliment The haute bourgeoisie Odious and vapid - veneers projecting the facade of status and substance over emptiness and self-delusion. They don't have a clue.

@imabr47 @barstoolsports You’re looking at this from the wrong angle. The message sucks, but it’s a business decision. Her delivery is the main problem. Would you respect your CEO telling you to leave “pity city”? How about ending with a “boom”?
English

@barstoolsports Bonus from last year was $1.29 million. The fiscal year has not ended and bonus decisions have not been made. Company had a sales target and they were $26 million short. If you rely on a bonus then you are living beyond your means. Bonus is not a raise.

@DrewHolden360 They’re doing everyone a favor. No one wants to deal with a neurotic parent.
English

The most persistent thought I have lately is that, in recent years, a large segment of well-to-do American adults has become breathtakingly neurotic. washingtonpost.com/parenting/2023…
