Check this out from Los Alamos National Lab—a breakthrough on figuring out how we actually see colors. Their team just nailed down a mathematical way to describe hue, saturation, and lightness perception. Turns out the differences between colors aren't subjective. Rather, they follow clear, objective geometric rules. This finally fixes and builds on Erwin Schrödinger's 1920 ideas—he thought color space was flat/Euclidean (nope). Turns out it's hyperbolic geometry that actually matches how our eyes and brain perceive distances between colors. Why care? This could make color reproduction way more accurate on screens, in printing, AI-generated images, pretty much anywhere we fake or tweak colors. No more weird shifts or mismatches.
