Today we visited Mug Tepe, the ancient citadel of Istaravshan. It preserves occupation dating back to at least the Achaemenid period and is traditionally identified with Cyropolis, the frontier city founded by Cyrus the Great in the 6th century BC. Although this identification remains debated, many scholars now favour nearby Kurkath, the site nevertheless illustrates the strategic importance of the region on the northeastern frontier of the Persian Empire. Ok hear me out: instead of all of us having to become extremely knowledgeable on a new infectious disease every 3-6 months, what if we got a large group of experts together and just put them in charge of giving us easy to understand health recommendations. They could also do things like track outbreaks and predict future concerns.
