Professor @Uni_WUE, Pathogenic bacteria and mitochondria/ Neisseria & Chlamydiales. I just realized I could be more creative with this description. Too late.

@MicrobiomDigest C-Eldai is a bloated version of the C-Bluai and a bit more yellowish. Unfortunately, people rarely make it that obvious and we need to be actively searching for fraud to find it in paper data. Just a glance is rarely sufficient.

A very easy #ImageForensics (paper already earned an Expression of Concern). Six pieces of cheese, enriched with berry products. Can you spot a duplicate?

@ThePhDPlace What I've realized is the supervisor you choose has everything to do with your experience. A toxic one will wear you (physically and emotionally) down while you learn nothing. A good one will support you and help you to improve. Pick a good human being. The rest will come.

@MindBodyDuelist @ThePhDPlace No, you're not. I did mine without a family, but my husband wrote his PhD with one of our babies on his lap. He was super stressed but he made it. And kids do make you more focused and efficient. You probably won't have much time for anything else, though, at least at first.

@ThePhDPlace For someone starting a PhD in a couple of weeks, is there anyone with experience doing one while married with children? Am I in for failure?

@ThePhDPlace If you end up in a good lab with a great supervisors like I did, then you will have a positive PhD experience. The best time of my life was during my PhD. I could finally do real science, I was intellectually challenged, and the people in the lab were amazing. Choose wisely.

Small recap from last week's @FASEBorg conference on #acetylation in Rome. 🇮🇹😎 Went with my 2 PhD fellows Leonie & Markus (both with poster), as well as our PI Michael (poster + talk). We even received 3 travel grants! 🥳 Thanks to all organizers for this terrific #BAHSRC! 🙏🏻

After giving a talk at a conference recently, I received an email from an unfamiliar senior professor in the audience remarking that my “look has extremely improved over the years” from “nerdy lab mouse” to “a touch of upper class.” 1/4

@NeuroLuebbert So, ugly girls don't get grants? The problem is, many male academics don't see this as sexism but as you being overly sensitive. And whereas this message is rude on top of everything, the sad truth is that (female) looks matter even when they shouldn't.

Ding! You've got mail!📧40 years ago, on Aug. 3, 1984, Germany received its first-ever internet email! It was sent by Laura Breeden @MIT via CSNET to internet pioneers Michael Rotert & Werner Zorn at the University of Karlsruhe, today’s @KITKarlsruhe. Happy mailday! 😄🎉

@MicrobiomDigest I hate the constant changes they make to these websites. Can anybody understand that I just want to be able to find things quickly and not search and figure out stuff over and over again?

Is it just me, or did the handy links to the journal and PubMedCentral versions of papers suddenly disappear from PubMed?

@catgyoung You draw the diagonals of smaller squares and shade the upper triangles, which gives you a central unshaded square.
