I'm releasing a new epic fantasy over on Royalroad! It's a heroic fantasy tale of adventure with my style of progression system. LitRPG without the numbers. I've got something I think is a little better instead. Goblin slaying awaits in the link below!

@monsterhunter45 Is there any paid advertising that isnt a waste? I don't think anybody trusts a product that was put in front of them in exchange for money

I try to inform my fans about a new book release, the algos go lol, fuck you, seven of your 50k followers will see this. I tweet a story from when I was a kid about Ceaser Chavez being scum, 2.1 million views now. But anyways, for the eleven of you who will see this, Monster Hunter Files 2 came out two weeks ago. :D

How much "romance" in a fantasy makes it "romantasy"? Or, is it the difference between lust and meaningful relationships?

@HJamesWrites Competition is just a wrong answer. The worst case scenario is somebody writing a book so bad it makes the reader stop being a reader, and that's a hinderance not competition.

@caro_irl Cracking packs is a gambling addiction. Hence, I have some surprisingly expensive tokens for mtg taken from other games...

while i don't judge people who engage with games differently than i do, occasionally after someone finds out i play magic, i get asked if i also collect pokemon - no, the thought of spending money on cards that I don't intend to use as game pieces is completely foreign to me

@TiltAtGiants They have different specialties. If it's "who would win in a fight" I'm probably not going to answer about my tech noir detective. He's just a dude with a gun and the patience to deal with people in the slums.

Whenever I see questions about, "Is your MC (insert)," or "In your book," I always think... Are people just writing one?

@SaffronOlive Though, Dandan specifically shouldn't have been a secret lair. It should have been a boxed product at major retailers.

@SaffronOlive This is going to sound crazy, but they could triple the price and then use an exponential decay system. They'd have to finesse the time variable and the initial price, but if done right it would fix everything. Particularly if they allow limit orders.

I find the idea that the problem with the DanDan Secret Lair drop was that it was too cheap hilarious. The issue is players not being able to get the cards are a reasonable price, increasing the cost quite literally does the opposite.

@MichaelFKane Microsoft will never be able to give me a satisfying explanation as to why auto correct decided to change "Were you[...]" to "We're you[...]"

@drewlevin I can only guess what you're talking about, but I tried remapping the melee button to my scroll wheel, which had been change weapon. Now it melees AND changes my weapon despite the UI saying otherwise. This has gotten me killed (in game) multiple times and pissed me off.

An important game design lesson: do not create a button that, when pressed, gives someone a worse time. People will press it (because they think they want what it outputs) and then be upset that you gave them a worse time.

@KrakeJames Yeah, no problem with that. And I can explain my choices as to how I interpret this stuff in the narrative. In the end, I always pick what makes the most sense within the story's themes and existing world theory.

Writers, how do you explain yourself when asked why you know things? The reason city buildings have inset first floors is apparebtly not common knowledge.

@KrakeJames I try to keep my epistemology solid by taking my time with research. Multiple sources, take notes of relevant stuff for my work and compare between sources for inconsistencies.

@therutholarrie I have tried to target word counts, and written 80k regardless. Unless I put extreme scope limitations, I end up writing 80k every time. This is not intentional.
