To all those urging Ukraine to enter peace talks with russia — please, take a close look at this photo. This is Grozny, the capital of Chechnya. In 1999, it was reduced to rubble by russian forces — just three years after russia signed a peace treaty with Chechnya. Russia couldn’t win the war, so it took a break — only to come back and destroy the country, killing hundreds of thousands of Chechens. The only language russia understands is the language of force. They must be decisively defeated. Otherwise, the world will remain at the mercy of an evil empire, ready to attack any country, at any time.

@Roydini25 @Ostrov_A @Callansgranny Oh yeah the hypocrisy of fighting back against constant attacks on the only land where Jews have the autonomy to actually defend them selves and fight back against those who seek to literally exterminate them. The nerve!

@Chadderboqs01 @RpsAgainstTrump Understand that the US became the world #1 by far through cooperation, soft power, a global military presence to protect its hegemony, interests, and global trade etc. Tearing it all down and isolating yourself is to abdicate the throne for someone far worse to take over.

BREAKING: Donald Trump says he’ll “probably” withdraw US troops from Italy in addition to Germany. “Why shouldn’t I? Italy has not been of any help to us,” Trump told reporters in the Oval Office. Pure coincidence this lines up perfectly with Vladimir Putin’s priorities

@spectator In my experience as someone living in a monarchy, Americans' understanding of kings and monarchies is 500 years outdated and most of them don't know the basics of what a modern constitutional monarchy is or how it works as a liberal democracy.

Ironically for the “No Kings” protesters who despise Donald Trump, the only reason we have Trump is because we don’t have a king: the office of president is what the Constitution’s framers came up with as a republican alternative to a hereditary monarchy. If the “No Kings” crowd had the slightest historical understanding, they’d be demanding the return of monarchs instead. ✍️ Daniel McCarthy Article | spectator.com/article/why-am…

@MrAno134 @MatthewNouriel Islam is literal fascism cosplaying as religion. You're either a fascist or not; you're not "fascistophobic". Calling someone "islamophobic" is a defence of fascism. To value others' right to subjugate and oppress over your own freedom doesn't make you an open-minded liberal.

People keep asking why I changed. I didn’t. I still believe in liberal values, equality, democracy, LGBT rights, and human rights. What changed was a Democratic Party that made room for antisemitism, excused Islamism, and treated Jews like they needed to pass a moral purity test just to be seen as human. I didn’t leave the party—The party left me.

Charlie Chaplin released The Great Dictator in 1940. It mocked Mussolini and Hitler and sympathized with their victims, including the Jewish barber, and a concentration camp. Today, we get whitewashing and moral relativism for a murderous dictator and his "wizard" propagandist.

Making a movie about genocidal dictator’s rise to power while he is in the middle of genocidal invasion should be used in dictionaries as an example of “tone deaf”.

@efdee @sosojni @James7Holland I agree that these are defining properties of a real, functioning democracy but I would nevertheless say that they are emergent rather than fundamental or latent as they must be cultivated and protected but that's a bit besides the point I suppose.

EU enters full Owellian mode, where words start to mean the opposite of what they once did.. …placing the word “DEMOCRACY” on the side of the EU HQ in Brussels—an institution now with arguably more power than any other in Europe, and one where not a single person is elected.

@efdee @sosojni @James7Holland I would rather say that autonomy and accountable representation are emergent properties of a functioning democracy, and the degree to which these exist is proportional with the separation between the people and the power.

Peer-review is not a part of real science. Period. The peer-review system, as it exists in its current form, has only existed since the 1970s (maybe 1960s in some cases). It is a relatively modern academic gatekeeping process, not an ancient pillar of science. Issac Newton, Galileo, Charles Darwin, and even Einstein's work (specifically, his four Annus Mirabilis papers in 1905) were all written or published without “peer-review.” Science advances with evidence, replication, and falsifiability. “Peer-reviewers” typically do none of the above things when reading over a paper submitted to an academic journal. Reviewers are just anonymous “experts” that stamp approval for any papers they happen to agree with and reject ones that challenge their own biases. But as I have previously said, any of my online critics that demand I publish a paper in a journal can pay me to do it themselves. I am not an academic. I am not a federal employee. I work in the private sector. It is not reasonable to expect me to drop thousands of dollars on a paper to cover paywalled data access fees and a journal's submission and/or publication fee(s). Either put your own money where your mouth is, or shut up about it and drop the stamp-collecting credentialism. I don't need a M.S. or Ph.D. to analyze data or assess claims made by scientists and find errors in them. For hundreds of years, valid science happened outside of peer-reviewed journals because they simply didn't exist, at least in modern form. I also do not believe in using taxpayer dollars to conduct scientific research via NSF grants, etc. Just because something has been “peer-reviewed” does not mean it is accurate. And just because something hasn't been subject to academic circle jerks doesn't mean it isn't valid. Your peers agreeing with your ideas does not make your theory valid. “Peer-review” approval not the arbiter of truth. It's gatekeeping because people are biased, scientists included. Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

@sosojni @James7Holland Elections ≠ democracy. The vital point of democracy is that common people decide over their own lives. The farther removed from the people the institutions of governance the less democratic is the system. EU is a power centralization project, anti-democratic by nature and design

#Norgesdemokratene #Norge #Innvandring #Integrering #Økonomi #UDI #Regjeringen Kilde: Les artikkelen i @DocumentNo facebook.com/share/p/1CFkNW…

@kevinajdiamond @RickMcCargar @YossiBenYakar It's scary how easy it is to convince freedom loving people to give it up without a protest. A 75-year-old lady offering a conversation is no threat to anyone. You never stood for freedom in the first place if you're willing to sacrifice it for (imaginary) safety concerns.

In London, a phone is stolen every 6 minutes. The police rarely bother to respond. But they had no problem arresting a peaceful 75-year-old woman named Rose. Her crime? Standing quietly near a hospital holding a sign that read: “Here to talk, only if you want.” She was charged under the new “buffer zone” law for “influencing.” Let that sink in. If silently offering a conversation is now a criminal offense in Britain, do British citizens still have free speech?

Hva gjør @SidselWold egentlig i Libanon?
