@harder_water We are melting early so far where I’m at, have you ever used satellite imagery to try and see bare fields vs snow cover? There is a lot of variability in snow cover here right now.

At the snow soil surface there is some evidence of water making it into the soil but not too much yet and it's spatially varied. Dry soil in spots but also some meltwater refreezing at the soil surface 5/6

The wet and gross situation on the roads are a terrible indicator of what the snowmelt situation is in the middle of a field. Did a snow survey yesterday to see what is actually happening and the snowpack has not changed as much as you’d expect🧵 #snow #westcdnag #water 1/6

@KramerAgri @Plantmore1 Sounds like you're measuring. Best to know and not guess. For the fee of an extra N test it will have massive ROIs, knowing what you have to manage.

If you're soil sampling in a truck, why wouldn't you sample down to 24"? Without diving into our data for specifics, I'd estimate 40-60% of the Nitrogen is past 12" with August & September rain. Why guess at your biggest single nutrient cost?

@Plantmore1 @PremiumAg With 6” of topsoil and 6 months of frozen ground we rarely find any N below 12”.

New template for new gm trucks this year. Built 7 of these hydraulic manual 24” units this month that will adapt in future to our auto sensing system.
