I loved Michele and Rob Reiner. They were among my closest friends. We raised our kids together, from mommy and me on up. We laughed together, we cried together, we played together, we dreamed together. We had dinner this past week, and they were in the best place in the their lives: loving one another, loving their friends, their family, their country. They never gave up on our country. They wanted to make it better. They always, always wanted to make our world better, and they were willing to fight to make it the country they loved. I loved them, and I knew they loved me, for any friend like that is such a gift. They gave me and all their friends that gift all the time. They loved their kids so much, and they never stopped trying to be really good parents. My love is with their family. I’m so sad for them. I’m devastated, gutted, shocked, stunned, and so deeply saddened, as are all of the people who loved them and who they loved. I hope people remember them as two deeply talented, kind, fun, loving, good, patriotic people who loved each other deeply. I’ll miss you, Michele. I’ll miss you, Rob. I love you both. Thank you for your friendship. God bless you both. Life will not be the same without you here, that’s for sure. ♥️

It was a privilege to revisit Heather Christian's ORATORIO FOR LIVING THINGS and write about it for @theatermania now that it's back off-Broadway three years after its world premiere. To my mind, it's as much of a masterpiece now as it was back then: theatermania.com/news/review-or…

You can't go wrong with any Diane Keaton performance, but I think my favorite will always be REDS. It doesn't feel like a performance at all, but rather an actual extraordinary life miraculously unfolding before us in real time. Unreal actress.

Really dug SIRAT. Left me rattled and weirdly moved as its ominous credits rolled. Hits like an apocalyptic fever dream as a grieving father and son search for their rave-obsessed daughter against the backdrop of political unrest. Think Gaspar Noe’s Climax, but with more rawer humanism, a never ending sense of dread and and mind-numbing tension powered by a trance-like techno heartbeat of a musical score #TIFF50

France selected IT WAS JUST AN ACCIDENT and Spain chose SIRÂT as their Oscar entries for Best International Film. Two of the absolute best films of the year. Easily top 10. If anything I hope the Oscar race encourages more people to seek them out. This is masterful filmmaking.

THE MASTERMIND: Kelly Reichardt making a heist movie is as unconventionally bleak, ironic, and funny-sad as you’d expect. Jazzy score had me dancing in my seat and a hilariously pathetic second half builds to the most wickedly ironic payoff. Ate up nearly every minute of it! Loving the nonstop surprises up her sleeve at this point in her career and Josh O’Connor’s scruffy aura is such a natural pairing. I want her to twist every genre, but the 1970s really feel like her playground. Gorgeous costumes, stunning visuals and set design galore!! Best of the year stuff. #NYFF63

“THE SUMMER BOOK is a haiku of a movie, conveying profound thoughts about time, memory, loss, and nature through a simplified, meditative, cinematic language of exquisite images and gentle music,” writes @nminow. rogerebert.com/reviews/the-su…

Shocking how bad this bill is: - 17 million would lose health care - 30% higher electricity costs - Millions of manufacturing and construction jobs destroyed - Biggest ever cut in food assistance for families, kids, veterans - $4 trillion in deficits - $1 trillion in tax cuts for millionaires & billionaires People should be on the phones, in the streets, and telling everyone who’ll listen

Happy Pride Month! The Chalamet fandom is particularly special because we have a large gay fanbase due to the critically acclaimed performances of Timothée Chalamet in his Oscar nominated role as Elio in 'Call Me By Your Name', and his haunting and brilliant performance as bisexual Lee in 'Bones and All'. Now more than ever, we need to show support to the 🏳️‍🌈 flag because especially in the US, with the current administration demonizing DEI initiatives, this has gravely impacted the queer community when they need support the most in these trying times. And unfortunately, for this year's #PrideMonth, major organizations that used to sponsor Pride events, have backed away due to their newly adopted anti-DEI stance and have abandoned the queer community. I've always took pride in my kinship with the queer community, most particularly with gay men because they've always gravitated towards me for trust, safety, and friendship (ie. the Arts and Gossip🤗)! One of my bestie gay friends is like a big brother to me and he has enriched my life in ways I can't explain. Know that you're all loved and that a LOT of good humans will join you in celebrating Pride Month! 🫶🏽🏳️‍🌈

Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole. In memory of David Lynch, we will continue to explore the otherworldly and the unknown. We will focus not on the loss, but on what we gained from the years we shared this planet with you. We will see you in our dreams.

My friend, it’s called post production, which generally takes over half a year at least when you factor in editing, scoring, special effects, sound mixing, close captioning and all the technical quality control that has to be done. Our post schedule always had us finishing everything by mid-January. Movies don’t come out the second they’re finished because the studio spends the previous year deciding the best date to release it. We’ve always planned on something in the spring/summer of this year. That’s how movies work. I hope this helps.
