What President Trump posted was not blasphemy. As Christians, we are commanded in Scripture to lay hands on the sick and pray for their healing (Mark 16:18). When Trump shared that image and message, he wasn’t claiming to be Jesus or putting himself in the place of God. He was simply expressing that, as a follower of Jesus Christ, he believes in the power of prayer and the authority Christians have been given to lay hands on the sick. There’s a big difference between claiming to be Christ and claiming to follow Christ. Trump was doing the latter, openly identifying as a Christian who believes in the healing power of God.

Yes, I too keep aquariums and have dealt with the snail overpopulation issue as well. Usually I enlisted the help of assassin snails as a basically natural form of predation. But once, in one of my 20 gals, I had such a severe outbreak of Malaysian trumpet snails that even the assassin snails couldn't reduce their numbers substantially enough. I had to euthanize many of them myself, and I absolutely hated doing it and wondered if I had sinned because of it. So... I dunno. It's really hard.

This is kind of hard for me to ask about because it really disturbs me at an existential level.
So we're all aware that both the Orthodox and Catholic churches are pro-life as it gets (as am I).
But in the cat and dog rescuing operation, it seems many of the rescuers engage in "spay abortions" of pregnant cats/dogs.
I... really don't agree with this. It makes me sick, in fact. I get that the cat and dog overpopulation issue is quite real and considerable, but how is it okay to just kill all those kittens and puppies? They say they want to "end suffering" and "save lives", but that would be the complete opposite. Just the same as it would be to use that rationale to kill an unborn human baby.
Do either the Orthodox or Catholic churches have any statements anywhere addressing this issue? I really need some counsel on this.
I was actually considering becoming a cat rescuer, but this has me so sickened that I don't think I could get involved in it now.
