Bread prices are beginning to rise in the wake of fuel inflation & transportation costs. Modern Bread has increased by a full five rupees per pack, a record increase. Other companies like Britannia and Wibs are soon expected to follow suit. Modern's average 350-400 gm loaf which was Rs 40 now costs Rs 45. Brown bread, wholewheat bread which sold for Rs 50 and 55, are now Rs 55 and 60.

A government that cannot create jobs for millions of young men is now going after the private sector platforms that let any guy with a bike earn an honest living with a flexible schedule.
Rapido has more than 3 million active captains across bikes, autos, cabs, and deliveries, with bike captains typically earning Rs 15,000 to 30,000 a month working hours they choose themselves. Uber provides earning opportunities to over 1 million driver-partners in India and Ola has a comparable number. In total these ride hailing apps are providing well paying part time jobs to more than 5 million Indians.
This shows that these apps have created more actual livelihoods than any Indian politician has managed to deliver outside the imaginary promises of an election manifesto. Yet they are being hounded at a time when the Indian economy is already struggling, the rupee is rapidly collapsing in value, and AI is devastating the formal job market.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi departs from Delhi as he embarks on a 5-nation visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway, and Italy. On the first leg of his visit, the PM will reach the UAE today, where he will meet President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. Maharashtra Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik has directed police to shut down unauthorised bike taxi services operated by Ola, Uber and Rapido across Maharashtra, citing violations of state transport rules and lack of required permissions. He warned these services pose safety risks due to missing driver verification, insurance, and emergency systems, and demanded strict legal action under the IT Act and Motor Vehicles Act after a fatal accident in Mumbai.

In continuation of its press release dated 10 May 2026, the National Testing Agency wishes to inform candidates, parents, and members of the public of the following decisions taken in respect of NEET (UG) 2026. NTA had, on 8 May 2026, referred the matters then under consideration to the central agencies for independent verification and necessary action, consistent with its standing commitment to the fair, secure, and credible conduct of the national examinations entrusted to it. 1. On the basis of the inputs subsequently examined by NTA in coordination with the central agencies, and the investigative findings shared by the law enforcement agencies and in order to ensure that there is transparency in the system, the National Testing Agency, with the approval of the Government of India, has decided to cancel the NEET (UG) 2026 examination conducted on 3 May 2026, and to re-conduct the examination on dates that will be notified separately. The inputs received by NTA, taken together with the findings shared by the law enforcement agencies, established that the present examination process could not be allowed to stand. The re-conducted examination dates, along with the re-issued admit-card schedule, will be communicated through the official channels of the Agency in the coming days. 2. The Government of India has further decided to refer the matter to the Central Bureau of Investigation for a comprehensive inquiry into the allegations therein. NTA will extend full cooperation to the Bureau and will provide all materials, records, and assistance the inquiry requires. 3. This decision has been taken in the interest of students and in recognition of the trust on which the national examination system rests. The Agency is conscious that re-conduct will cause real and significant inconvenience to candidates and their families. NTA does not take that consequence lightly. The decision has been taken because the alternative would have caused greater and more lasting damage to that trust. 4. The registration data, candidature, and examination centres opted for in the May 2026 cycle will be carried forward to the re-conducted examination. No fresh registration will be required, and no additional examination fee will be levied. In addition, fees already paid, will be refunded to the students and the exam will be re-conducted using NTA’s internal resources. 5. Further communications, including the re-conducted examination dates and the re-issued admit-card schedule, will be issued through the official channels of the Agency. Air India Flight 171 crashed in Ahmedabad on 12 June 2025.
Around 260 people lost their lives.
Rescue teams worked for nearly 1 month.
But during that period, ₹16.74 Lakh was spent on chai, biscuits & refreshments alone.
Interestingly Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation passed the bill without even questioning it.
One side had dead bodies.
Other side had a refreshment bill 🤡

Gujarat Model of Elections.
736 "unopposed" victories in Gujarat's local body elections for BJP. Not because everyone wants the BJP. But because opposition candidates were pressured, blackmailed and coerced into withdrawing.
The BJP’s real electoral strategy has always been to systematically render elections meaningless.
- Capture the election bodies that conduct them.
- Rig the process that governs them.
- Intimidate the candidates who contest them.
The Modi-Shah duo have made democracy irrelevant.

→ Govt told Parliament 8.65 lakh trees would be felled. Scientists say the actual number is 1 CRORE+
→ Adani Group filed an official expression of interest to build the Great Nicobar port
→ ANIIDCO literally self-certified its own environmental clearance; its MD was simultaneously the Environment & Forests Secretary of the islands
→ The Chief Secretary who chairs ANIIDCO’s board was also on the committee investigating complaints against the project
→ Coastal maps were quietly reclassified from CRZ-1A (prohibited) → CRZ-B (permitted) to make the port “legal”; with zero public disclosure of the methodology
→ The Nicobarese tribes withdrew their consent in 2022, citing unsettled forest rights. The project moved forward anyway

I travelled through Great Nicobar today. These are the most extraordinary forests I have ever seen in my life. Trees older than memory. Forests that took generations to grow. The people on this island are equally beautiful - both the adivasi communities and the settlers - but they are being robbed of what is rightfully theirs. The government calls what it is doing here a “Project.” What I have seen is not a project. It is millions of trees marked for the axe. It is 160 square kilometres of rainforest condemned to die. It is communities that have been ignored while their homes have been snatched away. This is not development. This is destruction dressed in development’s language. So I will say it plainly, and I will keep saying it: what is being done in Great Nicobar is one of the biggest scams and gravest crimes against this country’s natural and tribal heritage in our lifetime. It must be stopped. And it can be stopped - if Indians choose to see what I have seen.

Maharashtra is burning.
According to regional media, seven people have died of a suspected heat stroke.
It includes a 9-month old baby in Latur. She was found unresponsive in her cradle while her mother was busy with work.
Most of the victims are farmers, or people living in rural areas.
The temperatures are consistently above 40, and we're not even in May.
What's worse is we do not seem to have a proper action plan, and we're brazenly chopping trees and screwing up the environment instead.
