A woman came to pick up her phone at a repair shop. As soon as the owner handed the phone to her she grabbed it and ran for the door, not wanting to pay for the new phone screen. The owner presses a button that automatically locks the door preventing her from getting away. In this day an age we are told that unless you are security or an officer, you can't stop people from stealing from you as they can sue you. I've never understood the reasoning behind this as why should a shop owner allow someone to take what they have worked hard for. Should the laws change and what do you think the solution should be to protect the store owners against thieves who take advantage of the system?
