Salute to this brave Indian Armed Forces personnel who, even in a remote and extremely difficult location, took the time to feed helpless little puppies sheltering in a cave. While serving the nation in the harshest conditions, our soldiers still carry kindness in their hearts for the voiceless and innocent. This is the spirit that truly defines our forces strength with compassion. Deep respect and gratitude for protecting our country and caring for those who cannot ask for help. Stories like these remind us that humanity lives strong in our Armed Forces. @adgpi #Dogs #AnimalWelfare

An urgent appeal to those in power to urgently act on an outdated law India must urgently amend the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 (PCA Act) — a law drafted before modern criminology, with trivial penalties, and no dedicated offence for sexual violence against animals. 📌 Recent documented cruelty & abuse cases (India): 🔗 x.com/ShrijeetNair06… 🔗 x.com/ShrijeetNair06… 🔗 x.com/aajtak/status/… 🔗 x.com/amandeeps923/s… 🔗 x.com/aajtak/status/… 🔗 x.com/fpjindia/statu… 📊 FBI & crime data context: Since 2016 the FBI includes animal cruelty in the National Incident-Based Reporting System (NIBRS), tracking cruelty — including torture, neglect, and sexual abuse — alongside violent crimes such as assault, rape and homicide. This reflects recognition that animal cruelty is a serious violent offence category in the U.S. crime database. Research using animal cruelty and NIBRS data shows that cruelty incidents occur with or alongside other violent crimes, especially intimate partner violence and family violence — arrest rates in many reported animal cruelty cases are higher than for other co-occurring violent crimes. Criminological literature also finds animal abuse is an important behavioural marker: children or adolescents who repeatedly abuse animals are more likely to show violent criminal behaviour in adulthood, and animal cruelty features in the backgrounds of many violent offenders. This research supports what law enforcement professionals have long observed — cases of animal cruelty often coincide with or precede other forms of interpersonal violence and aggression, indicating a serious pattern of antisocial behaviour. 📉 International penalty comparison (Feb 2026): • 🇬🇧 UK — up to 5 years imprisonment + unlimited fines (Animal Welfare Sentencing Act, 2021) • 🇩🇪 Germany — 3 years imprisonment + €25,000 (≈ ₹22.5 lakh) • 🇫🇷 France — 2 years + €30,000 (≈ ₹27 lakh) • 🇮🇹 Italy — 4 years + €60,000 (≈ ₹54 lakh) • 🇳🇱 Netherlands — custodial + €22,500 (≈ ₹20 lakh) • 🇨🇭 Switzerland — custodial + CHF 20,000 (≈ ₹19 lakh) • 🇦🇹 Austria — custodial + €7,500 (≈ ₹6.7 lakh) • 🇸🇪 Sweden — custodial + SEK 50,000 (≈ ₹4 lakh) • 🇳🇴 Norway — custodial + NOK 100,000 (≈ ₹8 lakh) • 🇳🇿 NZ — custodial + NZ$100,000 (≈ ₹50 lakh) • 🇦🇺 Australia — custodial + AU$275,000 (≈ ₹1.5 crore) In contrast, India’s PCA Act lacks modern criminal offences for sexual violence against animals and provides minimal deterrence for severe cruelty. 📌 This is not just about kindness to animals — it is about public safety, crime prevention, and behavioural warning indicators. If animal cruelty often precedes or co-occurs with human violence, then law enforcement and legal systems must treat it as a serious violent offence. I respectfully urge Hon’ble MPs @RenukaCCongress @SwatiJaiHind and all Members who care about animal welfare to raise this in Parliament immediately, move decisive amendment legislation, and demand comprehensive debate. A country committed to justice cannot enforce 1960-era cruelty laws in 2026. This morning I met two more women who knew Mundhiri. They greeted him, he pressed his head on their knee, lovingly... Streeties make so many friends. And dogs like Mundhiri, an incredible number! (Oh and all dogs deserve homes. Adopt them, friends! You won't regret it!)

A recent news report from Punjab claims that a cow produced 82 litres of milk in a single day. And everyone started applauding. But pause for a moment and 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳: why don’t we hear such stories about any other mammal? Why doesn’t 𝗮 𝗱𝗼𝗴, 𝗮 𝗰𝗮𝘁, 𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗮 𝗵𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 mother produce far more milk than her baby needs? Because Prakriti has designed it that way. In nature, every mammal produces only as much milk as its 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝘀𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀. But years of selective breeding, genetic manipulation, and artificial hormonal interventions have pushed dairy cows to produce many times their natural capacity. This is 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗮 𝗺𝗶𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 “𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁” of the cow. It is the outcome of cruel human intervention. An intervention that leads to 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲, 𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗷𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀, and multiple chronic health complications in animals. And shortened lifespans, often nearly 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗰𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗻𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗹𝗶𝘃𝗲. This is the hidden reality behind “𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱-𝗯𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴" yields. Yet we say we worship the cow. ------------------------ 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝘆𝗮 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗻𝘁 has repeatedly pointed out how tragic it is that, in India, 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆y have become almost synonymous with milk consumption. Take Krishna, for example. India barely understands the Gita, yet continues to use a 𝗺𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗻𝗮 to justify consuming milk, ghee, and butter, simply to fulfil its own desires. Without realising that Krishna speaks of 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (niṣkāma karma) in the Gita. And the greatest victim of this ignorance is the very animal we claim to revere. That is why 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆, and the 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝗶𝘁𝗮, must reach the masses, urgently.

In the Zero Hour today raised the issue of the Tadoba Tiger Corridor, home to 250+ tigers has by BJP government opened up for mining activity ignoring its own expert committee report to not allow mining activity in the corridor. What is at stake? 1. 18,000 trees across 35.95 hectares will be felled. 2. A critical tiger corridor connecting India's largest national park, home to 250 of our country's approximately 4,000 tigers will be endangered . 3. Over 650 villages are facing an increased threat of human-tiger conflict. 4. The habitat of 60+ tigers, along with leopards, bears, wild dogs, and countless other species will be destroyed. And what do we get in return? 120 jobs – of which only 32 are permanent. This is not development; this is devastation dressed in the language of progress.
