【ペンネームに込めた想い】 30周年ということで、今だから話せるちょっとおバカな開発裏話を。 メタルスラッグをプレイステーションに移植する際、ちょっと時間が出来たのでアートギャラリーを作ることにしました。 私としては、アートギャラリーを作るより、次なる企画のネタを考えたかったのですが、描き手が少なかったので仕方なくお手伝いすることにしました。 しかし、始めてみると問題続出！ SUSUMU君とTOMO君がイラストを一枚描くのに２週間もかけるんです…。 イラストの枚数が少ないアートギャラリーなんて楽しくないじゃないですか。 でも、こういう絵は一生残るので、下手な絵を描いて後悔したくない気持ちも分かるんです…。 なので、２人には満足いくまで描き込んだ絵を描いてもらい、私が簡単なイラストを大量生産することにしました。 承認欲求が爆発してる画伯な２人は誰にも止められませんからね。 そして、私が数枚描いた辺りで、まだ一枚も描けていない様子のCANNON君が叫びました。 「くっそぉ！色！ 塗られへんっねん・・・！」 どうした！どうした！と皆で見に行くと、真っ赤な顔のCANNON君が、机に突っ伏して絶望しています。 彼が描いた絵を見ると、色も変なんですが、ドロドロの絵の具で斬新な絵を描いてました…。 言ってみれば、クリームでケーキを装飾してるようなレリーフ状態の絵です。 一週間くらい机に突っ伏して絶望していたCANNON君。 彼は、薄いガラスの容器に入ったニトログリセリンのような繊細な人なので、やさしくソフトに扱わないと爆発するんです。 なんか良い方法はないかと皆で話し合い、「君が大好きな女の子の絵を厚塗りなんかせず、いつもの調子で描いて良いよ」とアドバイスしたんです。 案の定、ゴキゲンで女の子の絵を描き始めるCANNON君。 おそらく、厚塗りオジサンたちに負けるもんかと変な力が入っちゃったんでしょうね。 彩色は苦手そうでしたが、彼の線画は、とても魅力的で、私も彼の技術を羨ましく思うほどなんですよ。 メタスラの捏造設定画みたいな線画を見たことがあるでしょ？ あの絵はCANNON君が描いているんです。 メタスラチックなキャラクターを一からデザインするのは難儀してましたが、私がデザインしたキャラなら、線画でスラスラと描いてしまうんです。 あれは凄い才能ですよね。 良いペースで増えていくイラストを眺めていると、CANNON君が自分の描いたイラストにサインを入れていることに気づきました。 「SUSUMU君とTOMO君が、枚数をこなしてないのがバレるから、今回はそういうの無しでいこうよ」 と、CANNON君にやんわり伝えたんですが、聞き入れてくれません。 「なんで、そんなにサインを入れたいの？」 と聞くと、会社を辞めて絵本作家になるために名前を売っておきたいんだそうです。 CANNON君にそんな野望があったとは…。 まぁ、こんな生活を続けていたらジョブチェンジしたくなるのは当たり前ですね。 私も、軟禁生活から抜け出せるものなら、そうしたかったですから…。 「ステキな絵本作家になれたら良いね」 とCANNON君に伝え、今回だけはサインを許可したんですが、その時、CANNON君のサインが見慣れないものに変わっていることに気づきました。 「そのサイン、初めて見るんだけど…何でMAX-Dなの？」 と聞くと、彼はニコニコ顔で、 「ボクのチ〇〇が大きいからです」 私は、 「えっ？」 絵本作家らしからぬペンネーム！ 『CANNON』や『MAX-D』はスラングで、そういう意味なんですね…。 これを機に、彼のあだ名は、デカチンになりました。 その大胆なペンネームが、いつか絵本の表紙を飾る日が来るかもしれません。 #MetalSlug30th #メタスラ30th

@supercatbc Supercat's true form was finally added but the game couldnt handle it and wiped itself,such a tragic tale. Thankfully they made tank cat REAL before it got nuked! :D

Everyone. Today has been the day. The Battle Cats been deleted. I am typing this my hands shaking and in the verge tears. I was in the middle of the game and the game suddenly got deleted on me. Battle Cats had one hell of 2 years and now Its funeral came. Goodbye Battle Cats.

@akio_1963 The martians have been one of my favorite factions in Metal Slug. I absolutely love the design and concept of the Mars People. The transformations always stood out to me as a really cool addition. You can suddenly TRANSFORM?! That was awesome!

【共闘】 『METAL SLUG２』のラスト、モーデン軍に加担していたかに見えた宇宙人は、突如としてトラクタービームでモーデンを拘束し、正規軍もろともモーデン軍を攻撃し始めました。 共通の敵を前に、先ほどまで熾烈な戦いを繰り広げていた両軍は即座に共闘を選択し、正規軍とモーデン軍は、宇宙人の巨大UFO『シティ・デストロイヤー』に対し、総攻撃を開始する。 このストーリーは、『METAL SLUG 2』の企画を私が担当する以前からずっと温めていた、いつか実現しようと思っていたとっておきのアイデアだったんです。 プレイヤーの状態異常であるミイラ化、デブ化、そしてクライマックスでモーデン軍との共闘という３本柱があったからこそ、『METAL SLUG 2』で大きくテイストを変えることに躊躇はありませんでした。 この３つのアイデアを思いついた時は、必ずMETAL SLUGファンを驚かせることができると興奮していたんです。 シリーズの中でも、「このシーンが一番感動する！」というコメントをたくさん頂き、この手応えに、ただただ感謝しかありません。 [Unexpected Alliance] At the end of Metal Slug 2, the aliens, who appear to be cooperating with Morden’s Army, suddenly turn on them, capturing Morden with a tractor beam and attacking both forces. Faced with a common enemy, the two sides, who had been locked in a fierce battle just moments before, immediately join forces. The Regular Army and Morden’s Army launch a full-scale assault on the massive alien UFO, the “City Destroyer.” This storyline was a special idea I had been nurturing long before I took charge of planning for Metal Slug 2. It was something I had always hoped to bring to life. Because the game was built around three core pillars, including player transformations like becoming a mummy or turning “fat,” as well as the climactic alliance with Morden’s Army, I had no hesitation in taking the game’s tone in a bold new direction. When I first came up with these ideas, I was genuinely excited and convinced they would surprise fans of the series. 【『METAL SLUG 2』見逃されがちなドラマ】 アイテムを掘り出してくれる作業員たちが、ミイラに追われて穴から這い出て来たと思ったら、怪しいブレスを浴びて自らもミイラにされてしまう。 そんなシーンを見せといて、このステージでこのあと自分たちの身に起きることを予感させるような、冒険活劇の導入みたいにしたかったんです。 でもプレイヤーは、初プレイでもバリバリ連射しながら、アイテムを掘ってくれる作業員を無視して、ピョンピョン飛び越えて行ってしまうし、作業員をミイラ化させるはずのミイラは、穴の中で姿を見せる前にバリバリ連射で倒されていました…。 当時、レベル配置担当は、私がイメージした演出を、どうやれば効果的に魅せる事ができるのか、あまり深く考えなかったんですよね…。 サクサク進むのも気持ち良いんですが、ロケテストで皆さんのプレイを見てる時、「そこのドラマを見逃さないで～！」と、ゲーセンの大音量の中、よく叫んだものです。 #MetalSlug

Starting June Ill try to pursue full-time freelance artist life for once on my life I’ll try to do something I love, Im so tired from working 8-5pm everyday for 11years gonna Quit my job will do animation and content creation, I’ll just try cause we only live once right ^^

@akio_1963 Theres a memory of a project I made when I was younger that really stood out to me. It was a cardboard model of Jupiter King. I made it for a school project and it brought so much joy.Jupiter King is my favorite character of all time. Thank you for making these memories possible

@vinizard01 @peaceequalstrue @METALSLUG_EN Attack is still greatly below Defence due to horrendous balancing and questionable units but it had its own way of doing things so I sticked around till its closure. The recent attack reloaded is even more horrendous sadly,its balancing is basiclally just to hyper boost enemies.

@vinizard01 @peaceequalstrue @METALSLUG_EN I agree. Its still one of the most fun mobile games ive played and I dont think thatll change. It holds a special place in my heart due to how charming it was. The switch to MSA sucked since it gravitated greatly away from defence's core but it was still enjoyable while it lasted
