Opening a grocer to compete would require someone with initially millions to invest to begin with. The bar is shifted.

I get where you’re coming from, but I often hear the same people who complain about monopolies in food retail complaining about Walmart going to small towns. “It’s causing Main Street to close!”. How can it be that the major retailers are raking in the money by gouging, while simultaneously being the evil empire that has low low prices that mom and pop can’t compete with? See what I mean? So they could easily lower hardship on consumers at any point. They could also do things like prioritize necessities at lower cost and raise luxury items.
