I’ll give you an example of waste in government IT contracts. Yesterday my team supposed to upgrade the landline phone lines in a USPS location. We were not able to do anything because no one in the management knew the phone lines bidding post (location in the telco room), we will be paid 6 hours for waiting for someone to give the information. This was the 3rd time that my team got dispatched at this location, 14 hours in total but 0 work performed.

Price will go down if OpenAI doesn’t pay for all the world supply of ram. OpenAI shut down Sora servers because it was bleeding money, now they have recovered all that dedicated compute from Sora and maybe their are short in cash to buy 40% of global ram supply. We may be flooded with ram if OpenAI doesn’t pay.

The price of RAM is up like 2x in the last month I feel like I'm going crazy trying to buy parts for a pc For the same price as 256GB of ram for a PC, you can get a whole mac studio with an M3 Ultra chip, 2TB of SSD, that also has 256GB of ram (but it has a 3.5 month leadtime)

for now you can't develop APP as non developer, but you can build websites and web apps with AI and have it work pretty well. In the next 2/3 years everyone will be able to create any kind of app, and AI will execute. There is no other outcome, everyone will be able to create APPs soon.

Ok I admit, Claude Code is amazing but compared to what we had 2-3 years ago pre AI. Its good, but requires a lot of assistance, and knowing what and when to prompt. If you are not a developer, there is no chance you can build a complex app.

TVs are not regulated by our government and companies can compete lowering prices. Domestic groceries products are highly subsidized by the government, there is not a real competition between producers and prices rise while quality goes down. For example California nuts farms highly relay on government funding for water. This make it almost impossible for new competitors to enter the market because you either get a deal with the government or you won't get free water ( water is n.1 expense in nuts farming). But if you are a small farmer the government is not going to deal with you. So at the end of the day we 2/3 nuts corporation that are highly subsidized by government and keep prices high because there is no competition.

TVs are better and cheaper than 10 years ago. Groceries are worse and more expensive than 10 years ago. Same economy. Same decade. What explains the difference?

Vibe coding creates a dangerous illusion: You think you built it. You think you understand it. You push to production. Your users find the bugs you never could. Because you can't debug what you didn't write.

The region block is for post replies. You can still create your post and reach everyone, and allow everyone to reply in the comments under your post. For example let’s say you want to create a post about your country and understand your people opinions why shouldn’t you be able to block all the other countries from the reply section? This is an option that certain people may use in their posts for whatever reason. The same way I’m able to block all incoming phone calls from India to my local business phone.

yes, trillion dollar companies with backdoor access to everything about you that used neuroscience to design algorithms to addict teens & admitted their parental controls were useless while joking about addicting people like big tobacco famously the same as books made of paper
Ariel Givner@GivnerAriel

This is disgusting and I can’t wait for the appeals. The precedent set by YouTube being liable for screen-time addiction is kind of scary. Treating algorithms like a defective product opens the door to endless lawsuits over “addictive” tech. What’s next? Books, video games, junk food? What happened to personal responsibility?

I’m honestly shocked by the amount of people on X that sides with social medias platform on this, claiming parents responsibility. Parents are responsible for growing healthy kids, at the same time it should be illegal for corporations to engineer products to addict children. Our government has the responsibility to safeguard our children and keep corporations accountable.
Nico Perrino@NicoPerrino

I'm concerned about this verdict and the overall trend of treating speech platforms as addictive — and therefore dangerous — products. Also, the verdict diminishes the responsibility parents have to raise healthy kids. For example: "Kaley says she began using YouTube at age 6 and Instagram at age 9 and told the jury she was on social media 'all day long' as a child." Where were the parents?

@NicoPerrino Parents have responsibility but corporations should not engineer their products to addict childrens. Both can be true and our government should not allow corporations to design addictive products for children.

This California jury’s ruling against Meta and Google is honestly wild. If social media platforms can be held liable for “causing harm” via “addiction,” what *won’t* fit that standard? I think parents should limit screen time, especially for very young kids, but come on, people.

Decentralisation my ass. Sorry to be that guy again, but the joke writes itself. They want people to trust X with payments and cards even though the platform can barely stay functional 48h. X goes down again and again. Feed breaks. Logins break. Posting breaks. This year alone, major outages were reported on: January 13, January 16, January 22, February 1, February 16, March 18, Today, and many, many more times I probably missed. And now they want your money too. The same ecosystem that openly says your public data, your Grok interactions, your prompts, your results, and even voice inputs and transcriptions on X can be used for training and fine tuning unless you opt out. X also says that even if you opt out, a deployed model can still learn from normal use, and xAI’s own terms say users who connect X credentials may choose to bring profile data, location, preferences, post history, usage data, and Grok conversation history into their xAI account. xAI’s privacy policy also states that prompts, uploads, and outputs are collected. And now this same machine wants to sit between you and your money through X Money with Visa. Handing your finances to a company that treats data like an extraction layer and stability like an optional feature is a surveillance hungry mess. Never ever trust billionaires. Especially not the kind who break a platform first and then ask to control your wallet too.

I think this case was awarded to a 20 years old that grow up addicted to social medias and ruined her life. Adults can be responsible but we can’t have the same expectations for children’s. Social media apps are engineered to addict children’s, how would you feel if instead of social media it was tabacco or any other addictive substance that were engineered to addict children’s? Would you be okey with cigarettes for children and still blame it it on people responsibility?
