@NWSGSP had 1.5ish inches of sleet and this much ice accrual in Taylors (near Taylors elementary school). Looks like ice accumulation was less than forecasted in this area 🙌

Initial fears for what happened to TJ Watt confirmed. As I discussed yesterday in the tweet below.
Tyrod Taylor’s was after Week 1’s game in 2020, Herbert was forced to start Week 2 and the Chargers never looked back.
Watt likely had a small tube placed to reinflate the lung. This should happen over the next one to two weeks, depending on the severity of the injury. He should be return to the field probably in 2-3 weeks.
Another issue that may arise is that due to the cabin pressure, there’s a chance that Watt won’t be able to fly for several weeks.
Dry needling is a very effective form of physical therapy, especially for breaking up scar tissue, but there are definitely risks involved. It is actually illegal in many states. There are certain areas in the chest and shoulder that are super close to the lung (“.5-1”).
These are areas that I personally inject often, but I usually do it under ultrasound with precision. Physical therapist rarely use ultrasound to perform this (normally it is not required and not part of their skill set).

The reason why Justin Herbert’s career started when it did is because Tyrod Taylor was receiving an injection, likely either cortisone or a nerve block, along the rib area in the performing party penetrated too far and ended up putting the needle into the lung, causing what we call a pneumothorax. He needed to be shut down for a month and the rest is history. This is also why I only perform these under ultrasound and let the patient know not to move because there is very little margin for error. I actually did one of these yesterday. This is what it looks like on Ultrasound, mind you there is less than 1” of space between the skin, rib and lung (depending on the person). I hope we are not seeing a repeat of this situation with TJ Watt.
