In other words, Anthropic might want to build bigger and better versions of Mythos and hope their end users mostly use Sonnet to build. Users expect each new model to be like the latest iPhone that they can play with. But that won't be affordable for Anthropic.

I have been sent my first fake AI CS Lewis sermon by a wonderful person in my church. This is unpleasant.

Frozen pizza brands are in an arms race toward increased quality and lowered price. What a time to be alive.

I'm discussing some UX problems with Claude today - both with Sonnet and Opus in parallel conversations. Opus is consistently preferring Sonnet's answers when I show Opus what Sonnet is saying.

Writers are producing speech between persons. Dignity matters. Coders are producing speech between machines. Dignity is not relevant. I think at the ontological level hesitant writers are detecting something important about the dignity of persons. You're on sacred ground.

Because being addressed by a human is a matter of respect and dignity. AI does not convey this, no matter how well the words are put.

Because speech between humans is a matter of personal dignity, which AI writing seems to violate. Imagine you are being welcomed to an event. Someone praises your accomplishments and character. Then they conclude, "AI wrote that." Youre disappointed. Why?
Noam Brown@polynoamial

@kevinroose Why do you think coders are generally okay with AI-generated code, but writers seem to generally not be okay with AI-generated writing? Assuming both are reviewed by humans.

@JonMcK1647 fwiw, page 16: "God devised marriage to reflect his saving love for us in Christ, to refine our character, to create stable human community for the birth and nurture of children."

Still wild to me that Tim Keller wrote a book on Marriage and Sex and never mentioned procreation as an end of sex and instead focused on sex as ecstatic experience that mirrors the love between the Father and the Son and that is the closest taste we have in this life to future glory. And no one batted an eye. Instead the book is praised as the go to marriage book amongst Reformedish evangelicals. Evangelicals are entirely cooked on sexual ethics. And people wonder why Augustine is compelling to the young people.

JH Bavinck lamented Christians who are quick to judge how “radicals” react to their suffering, rather than first empathizing and confessing our guilt in their suffering: “All over the modern world voices are raised of bitter revolt and rebellion, of a desire to overturn our entire civilization. We object to the cries and the demands of these radicals, and we have reasons to do that. Still, sometimes the sad truth grips us that we have failed miserably to sympathize with the sufferings and the needs of these people who are filled with such a fierce hatred against our modern society.  We hardly give a thought to how we would feel if we experienced their suffering and want. Is it any wonder that in so many cases these people in their misery and poverty have become bitter and try to seek their welfare and happiness in directions where it is never to be found? Often we are too severe in our judgment and do not seem to be moved at all by the suffering and the want we see all around us. We have concocted a set of principles and a line of thought, and argue and philosophize much. But now that we are faced with the terrible judgment that hangs over our entire world, we become conscious of the fact that our lack of interest and sympathy is to a great extent to be blamed for the insanity that now prevails. Our voices seem to have a hoarse and husky sound in the world. For we see in how many things we have been self-centered, even in the things that we imagined were concerned with Jesus Christ and His Kingdom. We Christians in the modern world are beginning to realize that we, too, have been infected by what we see round about us. We have become as avaricious as others, and as hateful. We have become estranged from each other through all kinds of feuds and misunderstandings, as people round about us are estranged from each other through selfishness and cruelty. And the great and mighty figure of Jesus Christ, who always moved toward His worst enemies with unfathomable mercy and with deep sorrow over their miseries, slowly disappears before our eyes. We do not recognize him anymore.”
