It is important to bear in mind that many people aren't reading the books they are talking about. The books are tribal props. They'll have the book on their shelves, listen to podcasts about it, push it on Twitter, make memes about it, but never read it.

We were pleased to host Dr. Seth Scott of @DiscoverCIU this past weekend for the 2026 Austin Harrington Counseling Lectures. Dr. Scott lectured on "Christ-Centered Counsel," exploring what it means to counsel as a Christian, focusing on how faith and virtue shape both practice and formation. Endowed by Rev. Clay (MDiv, MAC '96) and Bisha Harrington in memory of their son, the Austin Harrington Lectures are held annually to train and encourage men and women in the field of counseling within a biblical framework.

Dr. Paul Loosemore, Associate Professor of Counseling and Director of the Counseling Department, was on the @RYM_Ministries Podcast to talk about how dopamine shapes behavior, why it drives habit and craving, and how relationships matter more than quick fixes. Listen now: rym.org/podcast

One thing that is surprising from the piece: how naive you have to be to take any of his predictions about AI and its future seriously. And how many otherwise smart people are just that naive. Investor fomo, Silicon Valley groupthink, and American pragmatism are strong currents.

Read the Altman profile Sunday. No surprise that an intelligent insecure social-striving sociopathic liar rose to such heights. If it wasn't Sam, it would have been one of the other thousands who fit the profile. As always, luck is a bigger factor than anyone will acknowledge.

Were the colleagues who initially fired Altman motivated by alarmism and personal animus, or were they right that he couldn’t be trusted? @RonanFarrow and @AndrewMarantz investigate. newyorker.com/magazine/2026/…

I'm not particularly bothered when autodidacts whose primary theological enculturation has apparently been the internet change their views.

What is most attractive about Reformed theology is its exegesis. In the Reformed tradition, there's an intelligent, and often creative, appropriation of the best of Christian philosophy. But, at the end of the day, a tradition stands or falls on its exegesis of Holy Scripture.

An unspeakably evil threat. Every soldier has the duty to disobey orders to carry this out, every government official has the duty to do whatever is in his power to stop it, every churchmen has the duty to speak out against it, every citizen to resist in any moral way possible.

We've adopted an AI policy @CovSeminary that will go into effect next year. In the meantime, I've just graded my first exam that bore the hallmarks of llm-generated text. I know everyone says the quality will improve, but I'm struck by how students, generally, won't know that.

One thing about my exams that helps. I divide short answers into 2 "A," 2 "B," and 1 "C" questions of descending complexity. The llms currently struggle mightily with A and B questions in theology. Likewise, those questions are quite focused on subtleties in specific works.
Robbie Griggs@robbiegriggs

Because AI detection software is useless for these purposes, I gave the grade that was warranted (C) from the answers, pointed out all the hallmarks of llm text generation, and appealed to his/her conscience.

In this case, presuming use, the student was a pretty bad prompter of the llm, and this was obvious in the answers. It seems clear to me that improved prompting will be dependent on growing judgment that itself cannot be developed through prompting alone.
