@PopcornPost_ The answer is Dog Day Afternoon, even if you include all of his performances. It's one of the handful of best performances by an actor that I've ever seen.

Best AL PACINO performance, but it can’t be The Godfather (Part I or II) or Scarface.

@Sasha_Screens I think most people would say Secrets & Lies or Naked are his best. His work doesn't connect with me that much, but hopefully you'll get more out of it than I did. I am generally in the "it's fine, doesn't feel special to me" camp.

read the news about mike leigh retiring and realized i've never seen anything from him. is it good to go chronologically or is there a standout must watch that everyone should check out first to get a sense of what he's all about?

Sometimes I would wonder if Glen Hansard really existed…. Seriously, he was such an angelic presence… not otherworldly…in fact, very present this presence… A smiling rascal if you needed him to be… this most musical and mischievous archangel of Ballymun… no airs, plenty of graces... Of course, Glen was the shining star of the Christmas Eve busk… sometimes the only one reminding the rest of us that Christmas began with a refugee born in a manger, which is hardly a step from living on the street. To be utterly yourself by being more interested in others - a clue for any of us trying out different personas. He really was who you thought he was. He could never walk by a person living rough without checking they were OK… and more than that, he worked very hard so that less people had to live on the streets in the first place. When the crowds got bigger and for safety’s sake Glen had to agree to move the busk to a stage kindly provided outside The Gaiety Theatre, he would say 'we’ll give it our best but it’s not a busk if we’re not on the street!’ …because that’s who he was - a performer at eye level in any situation. The stage was a separation he wouldn’t recognize. Of all the grand and gigantic venues he and The Frames played, you sensed the street was his most favoured place to perform. And street people, his favourite audience. Voice of the streets. A choir of angels in one man. The rest of us blessed to stand there beside our very own and very earthed Angel Gabriel… All of us welcome in his choir, whatever shape or form. ….and I’m telling myself this morning that if he never existed, then he can never cease to exist. For me, he will always be everywhere I see a coin spinning into an open guitar case. May you rest in the peace you gave to so many. Bono

Man, I just assumed that the horror phenomenon of Obsession was going to disappoint me, and uh....it didn't. This movie is something else, man. And Inde Navarrette's performance is the instant classic level "Isabelle Adjani in Possession" of this generation.

Yeah, I think I prefer Once overall, because I love Glen's music so much, but Sing Street is a 10/10 movie for me too. Hell, I love Begin Again too, it's a 9/10, and I love Carney's Amazon show Modern Love as well. I have his movie Flora and Son in my queue on Apple TV but haven't watched it yet, and wonder when his newest movie, Power Ballad, is coming to streaming.

As a movie nerd I’m often asked for recommendations, so I’ve decided to recommend a movie I’ve rated a 9 or 10/10, one every day Daily movie recommendation number 83: In honor of Glen Hansard's tragic passing this morning today's choice is John Carney's Once! Have you seen it?

@namaferd I saw them live too, and when I saw them at the Brady Theater in Tulsa, it was Glen's band The Frames (one of my all-time favorite groups) with Marketa Irglova added on, under the name The Swell Season. It remains an all-time top 5 show for me. Incredible show.

@WilChanWrites @KyleLeeWriter You're definitely correct, historically speaking. But recent wins by Mikey Madison in Anora and Amy Madigan in Weapons show a changing attitude toward the kinds of performances that can not only get a nomination, but win.

@LuciousAmoris Hey, after just the bits of the Epstein files we've seen, I can't accuse anyone of being unreasonable for entertaining insane and/or depraved things.

@KyleLeeWriter At first I thought it was a joke, but then I was like "Maybe Fauci really is that twisted." I'm leaning more towards joke, but with the depravity of modernity I don't think you can blame me for holding it as a possibility.

@KyleLeeWriter I’m playing around with cost-effective cooking again. That’s about 90¢ of frozen spinach that I used to make a $3 spinach mac-and-cheese. Three meals!

@mikemovies I said when seeing it in a theater with only 2 other people in it that it was the best movie of the year. Seeing it again when released on DVD I said it was the best movie of the decade, and all these years later, it's still the latest movie in my all-time top 10.

CHILDREN OF MEN [2006] Directed by Alfonso Cuarón Hard to believe this movie is twenty this year 😲 My impression around the film community is that it's widely admired, and aging like fine wine.
