DOJ says telehealth platform Zealthy "presents itself as providing legitimate telehealth services but is in fact engaged in systemic improper and dangerous telemedical practices." In a motion filed today, DOJ says Zealthy engaged in "routine ordering of prescriptions by ... non-clinicians with no medical license." Zealthy allegedly misused the names of doctors "to order many thousands of prescriptions for patients they did not actually treat." Separately, Zealthy "is bilking thousands of consumers each month through unauthorized charges ... and even after consumers cancel."

Board meeting tips for CEO's of private companies: 1. Be transparent -- it builds trust. Board members can tell if you are spinning them. Save the sales pitch for the sales prospect. 2. Prep time -- Either send slides or a memo at least 2 days before the meeting if you want your board to be useful. 3. Opening remarks -- Before you dive into the slides, have opening CEO remarks. I used to give my "mood" score on the business overall. 4. Roberts Rules of Order -- Don't worry about all the "I have a motion bs" in a private board. 5. Discussion -- The content should be designed to fill only half the meeting. A board meeting is a discussion more than a presentation. 6. Asks -- I used to bring "asks" for each board member (i.e. customer intro's). 7. 360's -- Once a year, do a 360 review of each board member. This will be good for them, but also give you a little power in the relationship. 8. Independent -- Get 1 truly independent, sharp board member to help and to balance the power dynamic. 9. Team -- Your senior team should play a part in the board meeting so the board can get to know them. Not all of them every time, though. 10. Culture -- Every board has its own culture. Don't be afraid to explicitly design and talk about it (i.e. lets not take ourselves too seriously). I remember being nervous as sh-t before my first HubSpot board meeting. I hope this helps if you are feeling that way.

My dad grew up in Houston with almost no money. He passed on the “We don’t waste anything in this household” mentality to me Its always gross when I go to a founder/VC dinner and I see plates and plates of food being thrown away Are there any startups working on this?

It's a common misconception that the elderly are digitally incompetent. Things have changed: COVID and ageing boomers have improved digital proficiency quite a bit. So, where are all the digital health startups focussing on the Medicare population?

Headcount as a vanity metric at startups has always been sort odd. It's like, "Oh, you built your company with 50 people and $5M of payroll? Cool, we have 250 people, $25M of payroll and spend 60% of our time debating 'swim lanes' between teams." Headcount sucks

@shapingelements The founder who can sell. Plenty of builders who have products that never get customers.

raising a seed round from horrible investors is a much worse outcome from you then not being able to raise at all even if it doesn't seem like it in the moment

I'm wondering what's happening in the board rooms at virtual-first care providers. Are they discussing the need for operational efficiency and demonstration of ROI to payers and customers more often than a couple months ago? Or is it still business as usual?

Reality check: The tech people who moved to Texas are wealthy enough that they’re not affected by policies. Worried about abortion? They have money to travel across states to get the best care. Worried about school shootings? They send their kids to private schools w security.
