Sigh, just so we're all clear - the President cannot demand a new Census be done and used for apportionment.

If you had any doubts about the nature of today’s violence in MN being political, I encourage you to look at the composition of the MN House and Senate to understand what this assassin is trying to achieve.

@JohnathanBarnes …what makes you think that RMNs are transparent about their data sources?

Outside of RMNs, who are the biggest data providers that are transparent about where their data comes from? I'm looking in terms of scale and variety of data.

@adamheimlich @airgups23 Oh I wasn’t really referring to the article, more the sentiment that most brand marketers don’t care invest time in caring about ad tech. Sorry I wasn’t clear!

@KyleScotShank @airgups23 yeah but why. It's such a weird observation to make with no context the very same week the DOJ outlines the fruits of Google’s illegal monopoly. It's victim blaming.

@desertatomic @DrunkRepub This is demonstrably untrue. I went to college from 2004 through 2008 and both my wife and I had loans at one point that were north of 6%. ACA didn't do this.

The student debt thing is simple: cancel the interest (or make it 1-2%). The rates are regularly jacked up by lenders with little to no notice and we shouldn’t be in the business of bankrupting kids trying to better themselves.

@SimonJHarris Same arguments I see. But in the end, (1) is basically a table stakes capability on all the major media platforms and (b) is both hard to monetize and prey to the (justified) loss of faith in attribution. Plus, both things require some kind of 3P spine for use at scale - no bueno

@KyleScotShank The argument I see is that they are 1) a good place to bring CRM onboard to target/exclude known customers & b) attribute performance from campaigns so this can be modelled out and it is simply hard to charge much for either and that's why the market is how it is.

I've heard people saying that clean rooms are failed as a standalone product. I don't know the AdTech business well enough to say whether that is true or not. But if it is, Digiday have the inside track of how WPP paid $150m for a product feature: digiday.com/media-buying/i…

The FTC argues in its antitrust case against Meta that TikTok is not a genuine competitor to Meta's products. In a recent piece, I surfaced data from a recent paper that showed Meta ad prices increased by ~10% when TikTok went dark in January. This is partly explained by ad spend shifting from TikTok to Meta properties to a greater extent than user engagement. So Meta's properties may be less of a direct substitute for *consumers* than for advertisers.

@AdtechGod Also in the medium-term, my hunch would be that this mostly just causes cost inflation on cheaper channels (social) and cost deflation on more expensive ones (CTV) as advertisers shift budgets around to accommodate efficiency goals.

Am I insane to think that the tariffs may impact ad spend in a positive way? Domestic brands will increase ad spend to maximize market share while internationals brands try to figure it out? Maybe a net positive? Maybe I’m hopeful.

@AdtechGod In the medium-term, I think this likely causes brand-oriented advertisers to decrease overall budgets and smaller performance-oriented advertisers to have flat and/or slightly increased budgets, at least domestically.

@AdtechGod FWIW - in the short-term, I would expect very little movement outside of brands using this as justification for spend pulls they already planned to do.

While my feelings on GenAI are complicated, I'm more and more convinced that things like the Ghiblocalypse show the potential for brand-building (vs. just being downward pressure on asset production costs). I'd be REALLY curious to know if Ghibli Studio streams are up this week
