Watch my comments to media before Question Period today on the crisis facing Canada’s auto sector. Auto exports to the U.S. are down 32.5%, parts exports down 21%, and nearly 10,000 auto assembly jobs have already been lost. Canadian workers deserve better.

Canadian workers are already paying the price. Thousands of jobs in the auto, forestry, and steel sectors have been lost in just six months. A modest funding increase isn’t enough. Canada needs policies that protect jobs before they disappear. Read my full statement ⬇️⬇️

Liberals rewarding Liberals... What a shock

Mark Carney still hasn’t clarified his government’s position on whether foreign interference from India remains a threat. According to CSIS, India remains one of the main perpetrators of interference and espionage in Canada. Yet a government official claimed Indian interference is “not continuing.” When it comes to protecting Canadians, there’s no room for mixed messages.

Devastated to hear of the many innocent people murdered and injured in a senseless act of violence at a local high school in Tumbler Ridge. Our prayers are with the families, students, teachers, first responders, and the entire community grieving this profound loss.

My opinion piece in the Globe & Mail about the risks of Chinese EVs, including Teslas made in China, which use Baidu software that stores its data in China. Only autocracies & failing democracies have agreed to Chinese EV manufacturing, & they’ve run into problems.

When workers are losing jobs and plants are shutting down, government press releases don’t pay the bills. Canada needs trade solutions — not broken promises and foreign subsidies.

In a trade war, you don’t subsidize the other side. Conservatives have a plan: lower costs, boost Canadian-built vehicles, and stop sending taxpayer dollars to U.S. EVs while our plants close.

Liberals are withholding 50% of the severance pay of 1,200 autoworkers who were laid off at GM CAMI in Ingersoll. These families need that money now. With MPs @ArpanKhanna and @KyleSeeback, I’m calling on the Minister to stop withholding half of their severance pay.

Canadian taxpayers shouldn’t be subsidizing Buy America while Canadian jobs disappear. When 99% of EV rebates went to foreign-made vehicles, the winners were clear. Build cars here. Support Canadian jobs.

Canada could support all auto workers. Instead, Ottawa picked policies that mainly benefit foreign-built EVs. Workers in Brampton, Oshawa, and Ingersoll deserve better.

A Jeep Compass EV built in the U.S. gets the subsidy. Brampton loses the job. Something is broken in Ottawa.

First, the Liberals promised an EV boom and good Canadian jobs. Then they paused the sales mandate. Now they’re talking about reviving rebates — again. Meanwhile, auto workers are losing shifts and families are left without certainty. All Canadian automakers have been clear: abolish the mandates, or more jobs will be lost.

Same stupid talking points with absolutely no plan to stop these terrible jobs losses.

Happy for the 12 million Canadians getting more GST credit to help make ends meet. The expanded program will cost nearly $12 billion—money that was not in the federal budget. How many reporters asked Carney how Canadians will pay for it? Zero.

Please wake up Canada. These Liberals have ZERO respect for your hard earned taxpayer dollars.

Today’s announcement at General Motors’ Oshawa plant is tough news for hundreds of workers and their families. Auto workers show up, do the job, and build world-class products. They deserve an economy that has their backs — with stable investment, competitive manufacturing, and real action to keep jobs in Canada.
