BREAKING: In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court rules that racial gerrymandering, which has been used to create majority black congressional districts for decades, is unconstitutional. Justice Samuel Alito wrote the opinion for the majority.

Supreme Court Voting Rights Act Ruling Opens Door for Southern States to Redraw Maps, Dismantle Majority-Black Districts

The Supreme Court just turned its back on one of the most sacred promises in American democracy—the promise that every voice counts. My statement on the Supreme Court's decision dealing a devastating blow to the Voting Rights Act:

Now, get the citizenship question on the next U.S. census, pass the Save Act, and Democrats are FUCKED. They cannot win without gerrymandering and counting illegal aliens. They'd lose the House and Presidency for years despite Republicans largely being frauds.

Mississippi is the most Black state, and its lone Democratic district would seem protected even under the narrowest possible interpretation of the VRA. However, reading Elena Kagan’s dissent, it appears she believes the door is at least slightly open for a 4-0 map.

If Republicans aggressively gerrymander the South and eliminate up to 10 Democratic seats under a narrowed VRA, Democrats could become desperate and respond with absurd maps in blue states. This 17-0 Illinois map could become legal, flipping three seats from 🔴 to 🔵.
