Yesterday, I voted against the Immigration and Asylum Bill because it is needlessly cruel and will divert resources into an unfair, unsafe and unworkable system. Not only will the government’s proposals punish people for seeking sanctuary and lock out many refugees from obtaining settled status by charging them for the support they receive, but they will also weaken vital protections for those who have fled war, torture and persecution. We need an immigration and asylum system rooted in compassion and human rights.

1. He has supported the nonsensical and stupid proscription of IRGC, supporting stupid diplomacy over a return to normal diplomacy 2. He has supported the anti-refugee bill 3. He has claimed Israel “MAY” have committed war crimes, and “the courts must decide” Vote Green.

To repair the damage done by Starmer, Burnham needed to do three things: 1. End the abuse of proscription legislation as an authoritarian crackdown 2. End anti-refugee hostility 3. Recognise Israel’s genocide of Gaza He has failed all three before he’s even in office.

Andy Burnham has just voted to make life even harder for some of the most vulnerable people on earth. Does the Labour candidate for Greater Manchester support this performative cruelty or not? Yes or No.
Kate Nicholson@nicholson_kate1

EXCL: Mayoral race in Greater Manchester heats up as Greens' candidate lashes out at "shameful" Andy Burnham for backing Shabana Mahmood's immigration and asylum bill Geraldine Coggins calls on her Labour rival, Bev Craig, "to disown this act of performative cruelty"

One of the largest gatherings of Muslims targeted by far right terrorists and we have close to radio silence... The media, politicians from across the board, pundits... all seem to be taking a minimalist approach... This is how institutional Islamophobia works.

Lots of comments calling me racist, it would appear. Crack on. Don’t care. Pattern recognition is a thing and could save a life. I’m told 3 black African men arrived, no women, no children. The gent told me they just ‘hang around’. Now, pattern recognition would thus lead me to assume they are likely migrants, and to suddenly appear here suggests illegal migrants. Some don’t like me drawing those conclusions and now calls me racist. The trouble is, I don’t care. We’ve seen what happens far too regularly. And if me being ‘racist’ keeps my family safe, I’ll take it.
Katherine@EyesOpen😎🔥🙏@TheBeanEyesOpen

I live in a TINY village in sunny Somerset. My friend, who also lives in the same village, told me this morning that 3 African black men have been moved into the village. I’ve got a feeling they’re neither doctors nor engineers. I’m now going to have to go out in the evening to walk my daughter back from work at the other end of the village, because I have to. I’m not risking it. I’m mum. I shouldn’t be having to do this in a quiet, little place like ours. Fuck it. None of us should be having to do this. When is it enough?

@pauleholden This is something I don’t understand with people like Paul, he just doesn’t care about the people of this country. He’d rather wreck it than have a moral spine.

Andy Burnham has just voted in favour of Shabana Mahmood's Immigration and Asylum Act, an Act opposed by 80 Labour MPs colleagues and slammed by refugee groups and Alf Dubs himself. It will make successful asylum seekers in this country more marginal and vulnerable. A pitiful capitulation to the moral panics of the far-right.

People who come to Britain on temporary work visas should not automatically be able to stay forever. This Labour government was right to make that harder. Now their MPs want them to u-turn. Conservatives will back Labour’s original plan to help get it through Parliament.

“Rescue only” After 6 trips to northern France and around 20 days on the ground, one thing has become impossible to ignore. In 9+ small boat crossings I’ve documented, I have never witnessed French authorities physically stop a single boat from leaving for Britain. What I have witnessed is a rescue operation. Once the boats are in the water, the priority appears to be ensuring they reach safety—not preventing the crossing in the first place. These boats could be intercepted, brought back to shore, the suspected smugglers detained, and those on board identified. That hasn’t matched what I’ve personally seen. Perhaps @ShabanaMahmood should spend a day on the beaches with me instead of another carefully staged photo opportunity. This is what I witnessed through my lens. #SmallBoats #ChannelCrossings #IllegalMigration #BorderSecurity #UnitedKingdom #France #Photojournalism #DocumentaryPhotography #Wissant #Calais

You disgraceful old wanker @RupertLowe10 16 children and their teacher were murdered. Anyone working class who thinks this posh twit complaining that he can’t shoot his “clay pigeons” anymore is a good potential leader needs to grow up and realise he IS the establishment.
Mukhtar@I_amMukhtar

Rupert Lowe lied about the Dunblane Primary School massacre that led to tighter gun controls. He claimed it was "one murder." In reality, 16 children and their teacher were shot dead. Why lie about this horrific incident?

A Haaland altcoin would be going off if this was 2021. If it were 2025, a meme coin would be the speculation of choice. But alas, it is 2026 and it’s a bear market. So we’ll have to enjoy the World Cup with sports betting and predictive markets instead. Let’s go Norway! 🇳🇴

📊THIS BITCOIN CYCLE CHART IS GOING VIRAL It maps every four-year cycle into the same four phases: Bear, Pre-Bull, First Bull, and Second Bull built around Bitcoin's halving schedule. The pattern has repeated since 2014 and places the current cycle in the red zone. credit: @saylordocs
