@RepoleStable One problem is years ago young trainers started with mid to lower market type horses and would run them at lower level tracks. Then if successful, they would ease into the big leagues.Bottom line, the small tracks are gone and the middle market and down is gone.

We all know one of horse racing’s biggest problems is that the sport is way too top-heavy in almost every metric. The same is true with trainers and jockeys. It’s sad that we have no real programs or development systems helping passionate, talented young people enter this industry, grow and succeed. Where is the next generation??? Can anyone name the best future trainer under 35 or a jockey under 30 who looks destined to become great??? 🐎🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️ What do you think???

@BuzzPatterson Hubby was the C-17 jet engine program manager at Wright-Patt '98-'00. He also worked on the development of JSF F120 engine.

@stet_dot_net Each time you go the cars are different because it is an auction house. Most of the cars are sold at the local Mannheim auction and are stored at this facility awaiting shipping. Crazy this little town just east of Nashville pumps out a ton of high end cars!

There’s no better documentarian of Horse Racing Birthdays than @Quigleys_Corner Thank You TQ for always being so thoughtful, and my heartfelt gratefulness to all of you who reached out today. Some have asked for further background on this picture. It’s from 1989 and taken when legendary Bill Shoemaker brought his farewell tour to my Home State of Minnesota and the first Track I ever worked at, @CanterburyPark I was tasked with hosting a Live interview with him in front of an on-track crowd at Canterbury. I prepared by researching every possible story I could find about Shoemaker, at a time where there was no Internet. Because of this, I was really committed to everything I’d researched. Midway through the interview Canterbury Publicity Director, Chuck Sanger, walked up and whispered to me: “Let Shoemaker tell the stories..” 🫣 That marked my First real lesson learned in Broadcasting. However, my enthusiasm wasn’t rooted in all my preparation it was in my ‘hero worship’ and the fact the first riding goggles I ever got was from Shoemaker when I was a kid @DelMarRacing This picture has so much attached to it for me personally and professionally. And one realization is the reminder I would see my Hero 10 years later. Only this time Bill Shoemaker was in a wheel chair, and I had joined a start-up Horse Racing TV Network, TVG. The Sports World tuned in through TVG each day to see if/when Laffit Pincay, Jr. would break Shoemaker’s all-time Wins Record. Each day anticipating the Record Win, Shoemaker despite his physical struggles made sure he was there for his friend Pincay. It was in observing this devotion I learned an important Life lesson. Two Life-long lessons learned, all because of one timeless athlete, Bill Shoemaker. I’m thankful for every Birthday I have and every lesson I’ve learned along the way. Thank You to all of you for being on this Journey with me 🤓
