I arrived in the UK without any knowledge of the English language, yet through determination and sustained effort, I earned both a BEng & MEng in Engineering. My hard-work was recognised with a Student of the Year award @covcampus, I also obtained a Diploma in Business and IT, as well as participation in several leadership programmes, including @ParliaMentors at the @UKParliament mentored by @LaylaMoran. I now contribute back to society by leading an organisation that supports refugees in settling, gaining employment, and accessing the guidance and opportunities that were never available to me when I first arrived. It is important to reflect on why “young brilliant people are leaving the country?”. One contributing factor is the perception of a Britain shaped by leadership and rhetoric that some view as exclusionary, intolerant, and lacking in openness.
