A little perspective. Posted this on my Facebook page and it got a good deal of interaction so thought I might do the same here on the Twitter. First day of Year 31 at McCleskey Cotton Company, ironically on World Cotton Day. Posted this picture on my Instagram story and a buddy messaged “How many T-shirts in that?” So that is about 1,200 T-shirts. And that’s 1,200 100% cotton shirts. So the popular blends these days, closer to 1,800 shirts. Grower receives about $325 for that bale. Some T-shirts retail these days for $25-$30. $25,000 worth of shirts and the grower gets $325. So, on World Cotton Day, please consider buying a Cotton shirt instead of a Plastic one. Not only is it more healthy for you and the environment, it might make Year 32 a little more promising than Year 31 for our employees and customers.

What if - without giving a damn about what the USDA did or does - what if every farmer in American hopped on a Zoom or Teams meeting and collectively agreed to plant 1/3 of their cropland acres back to pasture, and overnight corn and soybean acres were reduced by 1/3. What would happen to the price? Wouldn’t that be a massive, positive shock? Couldn’t the savings on seed and N and maybe even the sale of one tractor/hitch pay for at least a portion of the water and fencing that would be necessary to integrate livestock back onto the land? Plus, the additional value of the commodities produced would more than cover the remainder, right? Or it could help you to buy your initial herd? And even if you didn’t want livestock, could that 1/3 be harvested for mulch to “feed” the other 2/3 of their farm? With high biomass crops? Could be direct applied. Could be turned into biochar and mixed with compost. The options are nearly endless. If everyone did this, wouldn’t everyone potentially prosper? We don’t need the USDA to change things. We can simply do things. Think about it. How would the markets react? How would you and your neighbor react? Enjoy the day! 🇺🇸 Godspeed.

@CollinRugg Surprised a UFC fighter chose to use a gun! I would have thought his skills would have been put to work in that situation. I myself would have just shot him.

JUST IN: Former UFC fighter Cain Velásquez sentenced to 5 years in prison for hunting down & firing at a man who allegedly mol*sted his 4-year-old son at daycare. In 2022, Velásquez got in a high-speed, 11-mile chase with accused pedo Harry Goularte Jr. after finding out about the allegations. According to reports, Velásquez rammed his car into Goularte's vehicle before pulling out his gun and firing at Goularte. The ex-UFC fighter missed and hit Goularte's stepfather instead. "Velasquez began sh**ting at the victims at a Morgan Hill intersection. As they tried to flee, he rammed their vehicle and fired more rounds at them," the Santa Clara, California District Attorney's Office said. The DA's office requested 30 years to life. Velasquez was sentenced to five years, already serving 3 of them. Goularte Jr. is set to go to trial soon for mol*sting Velásquez's son. He is facing felony child mol*station charges and is *not* in custody and is currently free with GPS monitoring. Insane.

India’s cotton imports in 2024-25 are likely to double from a year ago as production is set to fall below consumption because of a decline in acreage planted and adverse weather, the Cotton Association of India (CAI) said.

@sellis_1994 I think several farmers in this area are considering wheat. In most places it should have a good kick start left over from the corn.

New product trial! 100+ temps consecutive days. No rain in over 20 days. Corn never rolled, 4-5 ft taller. Planted on sandy soils (top of the hill side, not in the bottoms)

USA farming does not matter anymore. It's all about Brazil. Cover you breakeven when the futures market gives you a chance. Bring on the hate about my opinion. 😂😂

92.5 and 88 are clearly what we are getting tomorrow unless these funds are just reckless and have no risk management. 50 cents in Corn and 75 in Beans the past 2 weeks. Short cover rally? Take some profit? Nope. Sell more.

Dec24 Head & Shoulders Progression: Keep it simple. 🌽 Now, is this market overdone? Yes. Has money flow trumped perceived bullish fundamentals in certain areas of the country? Absolutely. Where do we go now? H&S target remains lower however (short term) aggressiveness from funds ahead of a MAJOR report is overplayed. Historically we should see a bounce into first part of July. Tomorrow (Thurs), I’m looking for funds to cover (heck might end the day up 5-6) and cover further Friday unless report is ultra bearish. 🌽 Respect the momentum & trend until bullish shift is confirmed. 🌽 Zero reasons right here to be… 1) Greedy (Take some chips off and ride into the sunset) 2) Hero (trying to catch a falling knife) No need to over trade this market trying to pick a bottom. Plan. Prepare. Execute. #WednesdayNotes📝

@sellis_1994 I feel your pain. Normally 1/4 to 1/3 of the crop by now usually. Haven’t sold any now yet. Price sinks but so does my corn. I side dressed 120 units of ESN blend AMS, got almost an 1” of rain within 24 hrs and none to speak of since. We managed to get 3 tenths today

We are going in the 6th week in a row without any measurable rainfall and our pivots have been running continuously during this time. All dryland corn is burnt up! We are also on our 3rd watering on our oldest peanuts as well. #PrayForRain

Trying to take advantage of the dry weather. Constructing an irrigation pond. It’s fed by two separate drain tile outlets. The plan is to recycle water.
