@drgurner @joshpuckett I’d still use a stand alone primer first. Annoying I know. I replaced all our older oak fencing with thick treated pine which is a lot easier to build with but I’ll now go back to oak. I got half the lifespan my grandfathers fences did. But your crew did great work! Good luck!

@LAIF2234 @joshpuckett Most of the barn & fence paints have primers in them...but I'll certainly take your advice and wait on the painting (and read more as well) - thank you for this!! You may have saved me some headaches.

Completely new riding arena fencing in 3 days (wrapping up today), thanks to a 3 man Amish team. They guarantee their fencing work for 6 years, use thicker boards, and we hire them regularly. Don't you wish everyone cared about quality (in every area of life) like that?

@drgurner @joshpuckett Definitely wait at least a month or two. Needs to be completely dried and clean. I didn’t use a primer but a good oil based primer would have probably helped. I definitely wouldn’t skip that step again

@LAIF2234 @joshpuckett I'll check that out. Thanks for the tip. They will be painted...I guess how long we wait is the kicker. Any way in which this could adhere better that you know of, or is it just time?

@drgurner @joshpuckett Look like treated pine. Might want to let them dry out for 6 months before painting. We used a treated pine and even after letting them dry and using high quality paint the paint peels constantly
