🚨New preprint alert! @Pierre_AuReLu shows that transfer learning works great for deep learning models of gene expression, allowing us to easily adapt trained models across contexts. Don't bin your models after use, recycle and refine!🤖+🦠 #ML #synbio doi.org/10.1101/2023.0…

What do you do if your "modern" science communication approaches are criticized? Besides nice/helpful feedback a lot non-content-related feedback discouraged modern presentations. Apperantly, if the presentation isn't presented in the old-white-male style it isn't scientific

@c_trivellin I second that! It was such a great talk. I always love to run into things I learned in my undergrad ☺️ especially if applied in a different context

LOICA is not just a great tool to aid the DBTL cycle but also a package for #Python which makes it even cooler! Great work by my friends @Gonza10V and @CarolusVitalis. You can check out their work at the poster session at #seed2022 today

Not sure if it is because this is my first in-person conference but it still sometimes feels a little off to approach professors in the hallway even though that’s what conferences are for!

@stefano_beowulf @SynbioMemes Yes that is exactly how I am feeling! I am part of a program that focuses on interdisciplinary science but it still seems hard to find your spot in the community

@LBuecherl I've been seeing this basically every day in the last 5 years of my working life. Unfortunately, I've also seen little appreciation for interdisciplinary people; everyone wants a super-specialist and not a generalist with a view of the big picture...

Is it just me or is there still a little of a disconnect between computational and lab-based #syntheticbiology ? More collaboration could lead to such interesting results!

@stefano_beowulf @soyManuGimenez Thank you for attending! It was a lot of fun to present. The discussion and feedback was highly appreciated

What we all hope is going to be the future of science: a digital paper where all the information is neatly organized, well-annotated, and easy to access.
Great software tool workshop at #SEED2022. More scientists should learn this!

I appreciate everyone who puts a meme in the presentation. It always lightens my mood ☺️

@VeliaSiciliano Especially since many DNA sequences are submitted as pdf instead of formates that are machine readable like FASTA, GenBank, @SBOLstandard

Excited to present tools for the Design-Model-Build-Test-Learn circle with my colleagues here at #SEES2022! It is my first in-person conference and a great experience so far

Today we will be presenting software at #SEED2022 from 7pm to 9pm EST. A joint effort from the GeneticLogicLab and @rudgelab. See you there if you want to close and automate your DBTL cycle 🤔🧬🔬🎓

Recently my PI gave me some advice: After grad school, if asked about your GPA in a job interview reconsider taking the job. Usually, that means that the hiring person can not relate to your skill set and expertise and can not evaluate if you are a good fit.

I’m excited to share my first publication "Stochastic Hazard Analysis of Genetic Circuits in iBioSim and STAMINA"
The paper evaluates probabilities of different implementations of a genetic circuit using stochastic simulation and model-checking
A sincere thank to my co-authors!

As always #IWBDA2021 was great! If you'd like to see what my lab is up to, my keynote is now available to watch online. I hope it sparks interest in some of you to go #beyondGFP and #engineerevolution! 🦠💻🛠️🦀 #synbio #biodesign #biocomputation youtube.com/watch?v=gyOI7F…

Earlier this week I got the opportunity to listen to Professor Roy Parker as part of the orientation for the incoming IQ Bio cohort @CUBoulder. I think his talk was very valuable to #grad #students so I wanted to share an earlier recorded version!
