Organize for HEAL legislation, ACT NOW, and the 14 Principles 📕. Take action @LongCovidAP

A major opportunity to advance Long Covid treatment and research is right in front of us — and the time to act is now. A new book has been released, presenting a detailed Treatment and Research Agenda for Long Covid — a roadmap to the systemic changes we urgently need. But to create real momentum, we need your help to push it forward. In this thread, LCAP has provided options for action: can you be part of the effort for change and complete one of them? On May 14, 2025, the Senate HELP (Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions) Committee will hold a critical hearing with HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on the 2026 Department of Health and Human Services budget. We must act by May 14th to ensure Long Covid is prioritized during this process. We are asking you to complete at least ONE action this week — bonus if completed by May 14th.

“The truth is we never really helped HIV until we discovered the HIV virus. That was important and that we found very quickly, and from 1984 to 1993 I was in science—seven years to go from a bug no one even knew before to a bug that had 12–13 different antivirals. And then we found out what combinations worked, and by 1994, if you had HIV, you were not likely to die from this anymore.” —Nancy Klimas, Director of the Institute for Neuro-Immune Medicine @NSU_INIM

March is my COVID anniversary month. I've had long COVID since March 2020. 5 years is too long. There are no biomarker tests or treatments for Long COVID. Since March 2024, over a year, I've tested positive for #COVID. 1 year is too long. There are no antivirals or monoclonal antibodies for chronic COVID. Paxlovid and a few other treatments have temporarily caused negative test results. But my insurance won't cover an extended course of Paxlovid, leaving me without treatment. #LongCOVID is chronic COVID. We need tests, treatments, and #AntiviralsNow. We have waited long enough. #LongCovidAwareness #LongCovidAwarenessDay2025 Image is a year of used COVID tests, dated on the back. From March 2024 to March 2025. Positive red lines are still visible on upright tests.
