@amerikaOnFIRE We'll see what actually ships (and whether the response shapes that), but I can't help thinking this shouldn't have been called DLSS. That was always about trying to recreate 'perfect' 4K frames, this is something very different

@LCTRgames The video I just watched that shows the games in motion has all the hallmarks of those really bad AI slop videos. It is definitely trying to make choices for the artist and predict what it thinks they want + what it thinks players want.

@synaktis @RockstarGames Hope Edinburgh is treating you well, if the weather is bad then just wait 10 minutes and it'll probably be better / worse :)

@JoshDWalrath Uniform look put across a number of game examples, combined with the 'AI look' of number of phone apps, leads people to respond to this poorly.
Also plays into number of negative AI stereotypes whilst also feeling like an 'overreach' for something previously positive like DLSS.

@PezRadar @zacbowden Looking forward to a tipping point when x86 emulation on Arm can match native x86 silicon. Dealing with 45+ year old instruction set baggage needs to become a software job, too heavy to carry imo.
English

But it does go beyond gaming. Even many Adobe applications haven’t fully updated to natively work on Arm on Windows and instead use an emulation layer and causes it to run less than great.
It’s the same for MacOS when using Rosetta on some games. While impressive, it’s also not optimal and can be a total crapshoot on what you get.
I always love Windows because I grew up with it and natively just know where/what to do it correct or adjust things so I’m hoping more companies make the Arm offerings from PC mfgs more desirable in the future.
English

The replies to this are concerning. A LOT of people are still under the assumption that Windows on Arm is bad, when it's just not, outside of gaming. I even prefer it over x86 Windows these days.

A Windows laptop that actually genuinely is a better deal than the $599 MacBook Neo. Better display, more powerful SoC, more RAM/storage, more ports, premium build. All round incredible laptop for $499.

@WATCHHOLLIE - guessing GPU driver is up to date?
- try streaming no other USB peripherals apart from mouse / keyboard?
Kinda looks like a GPU issue though, can u borrow another one from someone else to test? (2/2)
English

@WATCHHOLLIE Random thoughts:
- motherboard chipset drivers up to date? could still be GPU related (kinda looks like it) but chipset might still help (think MSI has a new one as of 3 days ago)
- streaming through GPU in OBS? try CPU encoding for a PS5 stream, see if it still crashes (1/2)

@L0SSY @WARDOGS @NVIDIAGeForce Smart getting ahead of any possible narrative of lacking performance without it.
We've seen too many titles rely on AI upscaling as the silver bullet for game FPS. I'm sure there will be many gamers appreciative of the option to use it though

@bogorad222 Just posted, maybe related?

26 years ago, we released a new Quake III Arena map called Area 15 - NVIDIA Bunker, designed to showcase the power of the GeForce2 GTS. Now, with RTX Remix, @WoodBoy2908 remastered it with new materials, path tracing, DLSS 4, advanced particle effects, remix logic and more! 👀

@Brammflakes Think people play games in a very different way to 15-20 years ago.
The lack of progression or 'goals' wasn't important - we'd never had it before.
I'd argue that, back then, new maps *were* a big draw. But these days they're more the foundation that the progression drives on.
English

Controversial take for players.
It is fairly well known within FPS studios that statistically new maps do NOT bring back old players or attract new ones. I have seen a lot of data to support this.
Players believe it is a huge draw, but the reality is that rewarding players time is more important.
Battlefield, a franchise I love.. has failed to answer the question “why am I playing this game” for a decade now.

People keep complaining about the marathon UI but i think it looks cool

🚨🇺🇸 BREAKING: $800,000,000,000 has been wiped out from the US stock market at open.

@_Meg_Lemon_ It shouldn't be the case, but yes.
That said, think the average age of a milsim player being higher helps they be (on average) one of the more open gaming groups. If you want to get on voice coms the chances are ppl will be cool.
Can't say that about all games.

In your opinion,
Do women gamers get treated differently in milsim communities?
