English

@LE1048057 @Phil_Lewis_ Then you'll say it's a body double and question 'what took so long'. Your mind is already made up no matter what happens.

Mamdani: The powerful have always known their answer. America, in their view, is an arena of supremacy, where only a select few are allowed freedom, where not all are created equal. America, if you ask them, becomes less the more people it welcomes. America, they will tell you, belongs only to those with the right accent or the right shade of skin. The rest of us, they insist, should be grateful for merely being allowed to visit.
How small they are, how weak, how unoriginal.
At every moment in our past, those who led through exclusion and isolation have tried to win power and enrich themselves by turning us against one another. Division is the oldest trick in politics, and the cheapest. But time and again-including 250 years ago-those forces of division have been vanquished by the forces of progress.
And yet today, too many of our leaders do not believe in a vision of this nation as an asylum for the persecuted-but rather as one that persecutes those seeking asylum.
As we mark 250 years, what do we see?
We see a city of contradictions within a nation of contradictions. We see the wealthiest country in the history of the world— one where children go to sleep hungry while the world's first trillionaire hungers for more. We see monopolies that dominate every industry and oligarchs who buy elections. We see masked agents terrorizing our streets, eating food cooked by our undocumented neighbors before spiriting them away in unmarked vans. We see a nation whose immense wealth has been built by those with calloused, dirt-streaked hands —those who toil on factory floors and chisel into stone —and we see a nation that has allowed so much of that wealth to be held instead in the soft hands of a precious few.

went to a wedding that literally ended during the cake cutting because the groom couldn't help himself.
the bride had spent a fortune on her makeup and hair, and she had told him like five times before the wedding: "do not smash the cake in my face, i am serious."
when they went to cut it, his friends started yelling from the tables. the guy smirks, grabs a massive chunk of cake, and absolutely shoves it into her face, completely ruining her hair and staining the dress.
the room went totally dead silent. the bride didn't even yell. she just took a napkin, wiped her eyes, and walked straight out the front doors to a car.
her parents followed her out five minutes later and the reception just awkwardly cleared out.
people said it was just a joke that went too far, but it's not.
if a guy chooses a 5-second laugh with his boys over a direct boundary his wife gave him, he doesn't respect her.
i heard later they didn’t stay married.

@botzarelli @wottheberry lol crazy that you relabeled what i said, but ok. good night. have a good one 😄
English

@LE1048057 @wottheberry I think a lot of decent people can suffer cognitive dissonance about awful things people they like do and that awful people can exploit that by apologising.
English

@botzarelli @wottheberry yeah, i can see your point with THIS scenario. i am betting she was hoping that he respected and had love for her that would overpower his need to play his juvenile prank. i am betting the times he disrespected and crossed her boundary, he was fake with the apologies too.
English

In the context of my original post, they aren’t actually good at hiding it. They’re bad enough at hiding it that their fiancées seem to have to ask them not to smash their face into the wedding cake.
To ask means they think there’s a realistic prospect that it’s a thing their soon to be husband might do unless told very clearly not to.
I could understand being fooled by a narcissist and such horrible behaviour being sprung out of the blue when they feel they no longer have to pretend. But having to ask means these women had a strong suspicion they were pretending all along.
English

@botzarelli @wottheberry lol someone can dress well & make good money while being a good partner. the problem is that narcissists & manipulators are pretty good at mimicking and faking respect to catch a woman. you can't blame someone for believing a fake personality when the other is good at hiding it.
English

Apparently! Even then I find it amazing that they can do this on more than a superficial level. Maybe a lot of women have only superficial expectations that are easy to meet by fakery?
Is it easiest where looking good, dressing well, earning good money, being cheery and friendly, and having nice things are most highly valued?
English

@botzarelli @wottheberry A LOT of males fake personalities for a LONG time.
English

@wottheberry The most amazing thing about these stories is that women get as far as marrying men they have to ask not to smash the cake in their face.
Are these all men with significant mental impairment? I can’t think of any other reasonable explanation.

@30bgphoenixx didn't kim's mom pimp kim out too? that runs in that family.

@CalltoActivism did Mr Lip Service reveal any names yet, like he "threatened" he would?
